you can also check your likely success rate based on 1-2km bracket for Phase 2C based on past stats. -

hi everyone, I'm new here. I have DS going to P1 next year. M having difficulty deciding where i should register him. Hoping to get some information and feedback here. We can get into Phase 2A for MSHS but living >1km from ACPS. Where should I register him.
Definitely MSHS under phase 2A.
Get your DS a confirmed place before considering your chances of getting into ACPS.
That said, looking at past year balloting history of ACPS, phase 2C balloting is only for those staying within 1km in 3 out of the previous 4 years. So chances of your DS getting into ACPS is really not high. -
Hi all,
My boy was born in 2005, so it may still be early for me to ask, but I need to find out more in advance as I am not familiar with primary education here.
My husband studied in Maris Stella, so I think our boy is in 2A2 category. However, we haven’t decided whether to put him in an all boy or a co-ed school. My husband who studied in boy schools for primary and secondary is relunctant in sending the kids to boy schools. He said it was boring with all boys in school and he didn’t know how to interact with girls later on.
Is this even an issue with the parents who send their boys to coy schools? Should I be concerned about this? My ds is saying he wants to study with both boys and girls… He gets along with girls quite well now, but I don’t know if this will still be true when he gets a bit older.
My other options are volunteering at Ai Tong > 2km, and Kuo Chuan <1km. Any suggestions? Thanks a lot. -
hi bigdevil,
Thanks for your advise. I made a typo error in my original message. I live within 1 km of ACPS and hence the dilema. Going to MSHS, is going to be a distance for me and it’s going in the wrong direction, if I drop him off before work, so I’m seriously considering somewhere closer.
But waiting until phase 2c and the possiblity of balloting is very scary. i’m just not sure what to do. -

Not sure about the sending boys to boys' sch part since I only have girls but why don't you let your boy have a chance to study with the girls first? After all, you say that he has no problems with girls now. If he wants to later on at sec sch, he can choose a boys' sch.Is this even an issue with the parents who send their boys to coy schools? For Ai Tong, Phase 2B is already very iffy due to it being a Hokkien Huay Kuan sch. If you manage to PV there (and complete your PV), you'll have to be prepared for balloting. (Remember that Phase 2B is not only for PVs but also for clans and grassroots leaders.)
For Kuo Chuan, you'll have to compete with church members too at Phase 2B.
For a better guide, refer to their balloting histories here:

Hi st999,
Since your hubby studied at Maris Stella, your child will be under Phase 2A1 (if you join alumni) or 2A2. If it has an affiliated secondary school, all the more you can place your child there.
Ai Tong is > than 2km, to me it is not worth the stress at Phase 2C. Most parents would want to avoid Phase 2B and 2C as much as possible, because the possibility of balloting is not worth it, unless there is a 95% chance of getting in at either phase. I read somewhere that a mother mentioned about the double chance if balloting should take place for S’poreans. If lucky, one vote is enough. I agree with her.
If my hubby comes from a school which has an affiliated sec, I will place my boy there.
