BTW, I wonder how those top student(s) got 100% for English in P2??? how can it be possible to get full mark for things like composition unless u are as good as the teacher? yes, it is possible for parents to be as good as the teacher, but can a P2 kid do that? this is something i cannot understand.

I wonder too! Perfect score for oral is already tough and perfect score for compo... maybe should ask tr to provide a few copies of perfect score papers for us to read. Anyone ask before?

my thinking is: if the kid can get perfect score, why bother to continue study in that level? must be very boring for the kid. might as well get him/her to jump level so tt it will be more challenging and interesting.

Btw, my boy was told to bring $2.50 for Basic Malay Book.

My dd told me sometime ago that her friend is taking Malay in P3. Is it a second language conducted during curriculum time? Do all classes need to take Malay?

        Not conducted yet.

The FT is on leave again. Can expect more to come becos she is ... U guess πŸ˜‰

no..just that i see no point in putting extra pressure on him if he is not interested in the subject.
This is of course. HCL is not compulsory, just a good-to-have subject. Not point putting kid thru if he/she is not interested. Quite stressful for teacher and parent too.

Hmm....if a child gets perfect score effortless, meaning no extra/reasonable amt of classes outside, yes, I agree with you, he/she should jump level. But how abt those who go classes after classes, study after study? No doubt they are also smart & bright to be able to learn and apply, but they are putting in extra effort & time to be able to achieve tat score. Being in their age level is definitely not boring for this group. On the contrary, moving them up a level may end up depriving them more of their childhood.

I believe the latter group is more common. I personally know 1. Her son practically hermits for an entire month (or 2) to prepare for exam. This started as early as P1.

Personally, if getting any score tat need to sacrifice a 'normal' lifestyle, I would say its not worth lah.

Btw, in Singapore system, kids cannot jump grade right?

                  Bingo.

Oh dear...plus 4 months of maternity leave...can school appoint someone more permanent as RT for this case? Or is there such person as co-FT?

                    Mummies,

For compo, be it CL or EL, it’s not possible to score full marks because it is subjective. Besides, there are 2 teachers marking a compo.
A mummy mentioned something about writing a weekly compo with phrasal verbs and idioms. It’s a very good way to improve.

My son’s form teacher is expecting her baby and will leave in June. I heard from a friend she is a very understanding and caring person. I can only hope that her replacement will be as good because the 2nd half of the year is very crucial.

I agree. If not, the FT should schedule her checkups on non-school hours. P3 is also a critical year not a year for scapegoats. I think a responsible, committed teacher should think of her students first, pregnant or not. In fact, could be good for baby too: θƒŽζ•™ πŸ˜„

My boy says her tummy not showing, maybe in early stage. That's what worries me most - early stage with morning sickness.
