Can I ask how you can transfer from dhs to vjc after 4 th year?
Must u drop to o level n take o level exam and used that take to apply to vjc? -
VJC (Vict IP) and DHS are both equally good and excellent A-level results!!

Just to reactivate an old topic since it’s been 2-3 years already and should have more IP students from both schools since their launch in 2012. My son has been offered places in both DHS and VS IP via DSA Sports.
- He comes from a SAP primary school but does not really like higher Chinese. Yes, I understand that in IP programs, higher mother tongue is compulsory.
- Yes, he is into sports but once going into secondary school, academic and leadership priorities rank much higher than excel in sports
I would really appreciate your advise or opinion on which school is much better, since both of them are 6 year programs…
Thanks! -
Although Rgs and cedar sec are both IP schools, but their IP curriculum standard may differ.
Due to difference in school fees ($300 vs $28 per month) Rgs have autonomy to hire Tr outside on their own, to teach the girls more things, so the girls learn more.
Between RGS and Cedar, definitely RGS IP curriculum stronger than that of Cedar
Sorry, posted in wrong thread (OT)
But since Cedar also part of VJC in Year 5 and 6, … -
WeiHan:
which school is the First model ?DHS students stay in the same school from year 1 to 6.
VS and Cedar students have to transfer to VJC after year 4 to continue their year 5 and 6 education leading to A level.
I think there is a slight difference ( at least there is higher efficiency in term of administration in the first model) in the model here. Arguably, there is an advantage in the first model. Otherwise, RI would not have chosen to merge with RJC a few years ago. -
as a h2 math tutor, i think the h2 math JC1 promotion paper of VJC is much harder than DHS.
yet this year 2015, around 1 in 3 DHS students failed their JC1 h2 math promo paper, despite being a relatively easy paper. so i can’t help thinking that VJC has a better JC programme since they are so well established. however, because DHS don’t have to wait for O level students to come in before they start the JC syllabus, they have covered more topics in JC1 than HCI and far more than most JCs. DHS will have plenty of time to do revision in JC2 -
Anyone know between DHS and VJC : which IP school accelerate their Year 3 and 4, IP curriculum ?
That means, in Year 3 and 4, Tr already start asking students to buy A level pure Science textbooks (for H2 Physics, H2 Chem, H2 Bio), start to prepare them for A level, instead of having to wait until Year 5 or 6, then start to prepare for A level ?
If acceleration do arise in Year 3 :
does it happen only to the Top Class in either Dunman / VJC, or happen across all other Year 3 / 4 classes in common in either school, standardize across the board ? -

Because Dunman don't take in any JAE O level students, they can start preparing for A level much earlier, no need to wait until come Year 5.as a h2 math tutor, i think the h2 math JC1 promotion paper of VJC is much harder than DHS.

Dunman can start preparing for A level, from Year 3 onwards.
However, VJC different.
VJC need to wait until fresh new O level students come in at Year 5, then can start A level preparation. Otherwise JAE O level students tend to miss out a lot, have to catch up a lot what they had missed out, compared to their IP counter part. (disadvantage)
Btw, in the east, one tend to compare VJC against Dunman.
Should also include comparing Temasek JC, since TJC also another IP JC.
Wonder how is the pace of IP curriculum in TJC, is like
For IP schools, one should compare the difference amongst IP curriculum before P6 students make their correct choice into Secondary school, for the next 6 years ahead
Although all are called IP schools, but internally how the Tr teach and to what extent or how in depth, may differ from subject to subject.
For Dunman High :
Many Tao Nan, Kong Hwa, Maha Bodhi, Red Swastika primary SAP school students tend to go there, as Dunman High Chinese standard is high -

My 2cts worth - once you go into JC, it no longer matters if you are from an IP JC or not All will be competing on the same frontier - A levels. So the comparison is made between VJC n DHS becos todate, both JCs are in the top category.
TJC altho IP, has been a mid tier JC todate.
