My youngest one is keen on the 6-year TJC’s IP after her PSLE. Refer to curriculum posted on TJC webpage, I am wondering if the subjects/syllabus are the same as typical Secondary?
would appreciate current students or parents with kids currently in this programme to shed some light. Thanks.

Hi! I am Peony’s dd who is currently in TJ IP Yr1.
Language Arts is basically a mixture of Literature and English. We have to study texts/novels and write literary responses based on them.
Fundamental Math: u can refer to shinglee’s IP maths (sold at Popular) to see what we study. However, additional things such as map scales are also taught.
Green Science: It is just Biology, Chemistry and Physics which are all taught at seperate times of the year.
Skills and Knowledge: This subject is broken up into 3 different modules; one module a term, except for Term 4. Some modules include Media Literacy where we learnt about advertising and the effects of the media. Others include Research where we had to do Science experiments. In essence, S&K gives us the foundation for skills and thinking needed in JC Levels.
Fundamental Humanities: It is a mix of Geography and History.
Hope this helps.
Just to add, my favourite is actually Aesthetics where the entire year one cohort puts up a showcase at the end of each semester after learning a particular form of art. We just presented a drama where everyone had roles from director to actor to stage manager etc. -
Totally enjoyed the drama performances on Friday evening, well done boys and girls.

Hi how many PR girls in 4year IP program?

My dd is offered COs fr DHS and TJC. We hv to make a decision abt which sch to choose. Really appreciate if students or parents of TJC could kindly answer my questions:
(1) What’s the school hrs of TJC like?
(2) Are sec1 students required to take up 1 aesthetic and 1 sports CCA? Are the students admitted to the CCAs by selection fr school or they can just choose the CCA that they are interested in?
(3) Is there any ‘O’ level track if my child can’t cope w IP? Are there frequent assessments(eg. tests, projects etc) to help me keep track of my child’s progress?
Thank you in advance:) -
(1) Mon-Thur —> 3:00 or 4:00 pm, Fri –> 12:30
CCA either Tue or Thur, till 5:00 or 6:00pm
(2) 10 weeks of Aesthetics and 10 weeks of sports. The school tries to let pupils do what they like but subject to vacancies.
(3) No O level track. -
