Journey to school is really a big issue.. We hope we made the right choice to place the little ones with MBS. Just feel like sharing what we are experiencing now.


My elder gal is in P1 now and my younger is only 1yr old this year. Meaning we will have a good 12 yrs with MBS. We are staying >2km away from MBS and both of us are working parents. Schoolbus metioned that he will pick up DD @ 1050am .. she will be the first to board the bus and last to alight everyday @ 745pm.. This is horrible.. Upon hearing that we decided to place her with student care so that her lunch will be well taken care of. Daddy sent her to student care everyday @ 820am and she reach around 845-850am. And she was on schoolbus daily to XX place and I pick her up from there.. reason being... if schoolbus is to sent her home, she will be the last to alight @ 745pm .. if i were to pick her up from XX place, we are able to reach home latest 710pm. That good 30mins is crucial, for her to finish her dinner & complete her HW if any.

From the start of Term 3, FT feedback to me that DD is always tired and restless in the afternoon. Unable to concentrate in class and initially she even dozed off. Both Chinese teacher & FT had the same comment. Told them she's with student care everyday from 9am.. and their reply was \" NO WONDER\".. Thus now we are deciding whether should we pull her out of student care and put her on BUS and let her have lunch in school.

Thus for those that is staying real far from MBS like tampines / woodlands / CCK.. Plan well and hope you u will find a good solution.

Hope things will be better in year 2015 when she will be in the morning session. Anyone can advise for single session school. Whats the school hour like?

Its really not easy to be parents now a days. ;(( Logistics for us are very tough.

1) Hubby need to send her to student care every morning.
2) $ spent on student care
3) on a single trip schoolbus from school to XX @ 80% of the bus fees (cos single trip)
4) I still need to pick her up myself from XX.

Its really like \"FULL FORCE\" activation everyday....stresssssedddd.... hahaha

Perhaps you can consider asking her to go back to student care after school or you fetch her directly from school. Like that can save the bus fare. I have friends whose kids are in student care but none has had feedback from their teachers that the kids were restless in class.so it may not be the student care issue. What time does your DD sleep?

She slept 9-930am.. By 930 she already in dream land ..haha

Both if us are working that's why need schoolbus to pick her out of school .. And the timing is jus right for me to pick her up frm Xx place .. I hope things will be better when she is in p3 morning session .. By then I will be able to sent her off to school in the morning ... And I am considering to quit by then so as to pick her direct frm school....

I go the same comment from the chinese teacher: my girl is unable to concentrate in class.

My girl is picked up by school bus at 11am.
If she comes home by school bus, she will reach home about 7pm.

On some days, she swims and thus reaches home only at 9+…

Haiz… tough times on us parents…

Hi Wolfgirl, P1&P2 still attends school on PSLE days. Only 14-18 Oct, PSLE Marking no school for all. But after that, it's SA all the way for P1&2.

You may like to refer to a Term 4 Pupils Calendar of Events and Assessment Plan given at start of T4 for clearer info.
