Because it will be moderated by the bell curve...
A* or A depends on absolute score. But in the end it is the mean and the standard deviation that determine the T-score for that subject. Although easy paper translates to higher mean, final T-score also depends on SD whether higher or lower. Not necessarily more A* or A means higher T-score.zeemimi:
The fact is that MOE cannot have too many children getting too many A*, imagine too many students getting above 270. Before you know it, to get into Cedar Girls need 275
Actually i wonder why not!!??!! If a child is deserving of an A*, give it to him/her. Why just because there are many A*, and the marks that could previously get the child an A* now becomes an A? -

There was a year the top PSLE score was very close to 300.
Was the COP across all schools higher?
I vaguely remember it was before 2009, but dunno exactly which year. -
When would the sch distribute the booklet on sec sch selection?

I doubt there is a bell curve for PSLE. If it does, how do you explain the high percentage of students (more than 80%) who get A and A* for Chinese every year?
I had read that with difficult papers, the general t-scores tend to be higher compared to the years with easier papers.
Last yearโs Math was controversial. Some said it was difficult and others said it was easy. But generally, most students agreed that there was a mixture of easy and difficult questions.
In my opinion, Science paper may not seem difficult, but it is the hardest to score well as the marking is the strictest of all papers since specific key words must be present and strung with the correct words to get the marks. -

Second highest is 292 in 19xx. I forgot.

Oh dear. So unfortunate. May be they will consider the prelims marks.

Please take care of all your dc over the weekends - watch over their safety even at home. Must remind myself too.
DD's classmate broke his finger on his left hand (and he's left handed) during recess after is paper 1 and he had to miss his paper 2.....sad. Wonder if he can retake? -

You are so right here!
Although my dd was beaming when she saw the other thread on the Eng Paper yesterday. I won't let her see anymore from now on.
Although she is very consistent in her Maths+Sci results, I don't want her to emo on me for the next few days if things turned out differently.
I am so very glad MOE is making PSLE more manageable these days. Less worried when my next few take the exam. -
oh no! so bad...

Feel so bad for the kid as he must have worked so hard for the exams and now had to miss it..
Hope god give him courage and make him strong.. wondering how MOE will handle his case.
Wishing the child a fast recovery..
Just request all parents to cut down on outdoor activities for till exams are over. As such its rainy season and flu is spreading..
Eat well and relax at home when kids feel tired..
All the best..
