There is no right or wrong....

It's all depends on if the child is an average student or a top student. I am sure for average student, their parents want the papers to be easy..thus not agreeing to having difficult paper, so that to get close to the top students. For top students, they want the paper to be difficult to see the real delta.

Agreed that there is no right or wrong.

        BUT

Strongly disagreed to the statement : I am sure for average student, their parents want the papers to be easy..thus not agreeing to having difficult paper, so that to get close to the top students.

        PEACE....
I am back. It's a clear cut which group you belong to....and it is clear cut why the parent of the average students want to be near the Top students in results. Needless to say.

The maths paper doesn't need to be all difficult. MOE only needs to have a few difficult questions to test out the students and differiate the T-Score and etc, so as to statify all students (top, above average and average and even those not so good to ensure that they meet the grade) . The basic (what they learnt in school) is still needed for the rest of the paper to cater for the overall cohort. But this year paper is just too easy.....I do not believe the better students are asking for all difficult questions. Cheers !!

Are you speaking for yourself? I think you should not generalise your perception. I seriously do not think 'the parent of the average students want to be near the Top students in results. Needless to say'.

Many of them have θ‡ͺηŸ₯δΉ‹ζ˜Ž and are at peace with their lives and others like myself would like to stay away from the self-declared elites (without inner substance).

I am not defending myself as my dc is in the best class and his results hover between the top 1-8%. My dc belongs to the sandwiched group but what you had stated is a big insult to the parents of the average students, IMHO. :frustrated:

Your kid could be a top student but the parent's arrogance is certainly a mis-matched.

All the best to the kids doing Chinese papers tomorrow, especially those who are weak in Chinese(like my son). :rahrah:

Saw this in the PSLE Chinese thread...past year Chinese Compo topics
              http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=69&t=25131&hilit=psle+chinese&start=10

Hopefully, the pic compos this year will not be hard cos 2011 & 2012 pic compos not easy for those weak in Chinese (I think)

Someone mentioned that we are not able to view our kids' psle scripts.

I think we can if we pay. It's about $100 for each subject, applying through the principal's office. I remember a few years' back, my elder dc's classmate's mum got a rude shock when her ds scored 230+ for t-score instead of the 250-260 they had expected. They asked to see the scripts. Don't know about the details but nothing was changed. Somehow, he managed to get into an IP school via DSA at sec 3. Phew, happy ending.
Yes .. I hv tried but later withdraw...You can pay but you cannot see the paper .. You are paying to review the paper hence if the paper is marked correctly you cannot challenge the marks as its done with moderation

And I think about it ..do not waste money to review .. If yours is marked wrongly ... I think everyone will pay and review paper.

I also understand that papers are marked by more than 1 teacher so unless all make a mistake.. More likely the results will not change.
