All the best to the kids doing Chinese papers tomorrow, especially those who are weak in Chinese(like my son). :rahrah:

Saw this in the PSLE Chinese thread...past year Chinese Compo topics
      http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=69&t=25131&hilit=psle+chinese&start=10

Hopefully, the pic compos this year will not be hard cos 2011 & 2012 pic compos not easy for those weak in Chinese (I think)

Are you speaking for yourself? I think you should not generalise your perception. I seriously do not think 'the parent of the average students want to be near the Top students in results. Needless to say'.

Many of them have 自知之明 and are at peace with their lives and others like myself would like to stay away from the self-declared elites (without inner substance).

I am not defending myself as my dc is in the best class and his results hover between the top 1-8%. My dc belongs to the sandwiched group but what you had stated is a big insult to the parents of the average students, IMHO. :frustrated:

Your kid could be a top student but the parent's arrogance is certainly a mis-matched.
        What is the sandwiched grp?

Someone mentioned that we are not able to view our kids' psle scripts.

I think we can if we pay. It's about $100 for each subject, applying through the principal's office. I remember a few years' back, my elder dc's classmate's mum got a rude shock when her ds scored 230+ for t-score instead of the 250-260 they had expected. They asked to see the scripts. Don't know about the details but nothing was changed. Somehow, he managed to get into an IP school via DSA at sec 3. Phew, happy ending.
Yes .. I hv tried but later withdraw...You can pay but you cannot see the paper .. You are paying to review the paper hence if the paper is marked correctly you cannot challenge the marks as its done with moderation

And I think about it ..do not waste money to review .. If yours is marked wrongly ... I think everyone will pay and review paper.

I also understand that papers are marked by more than 1 teacher so unless all make a mistake.. More likely the results will not change.

                PEACE....
I am back. It's a clear cut which group you belong to....and it is clear cut why the parent of the average students want to be near the Top students in results. Needless to say.

                  What is the sandwiched grp?

My understanding of this is sandwich grp is....Your child is not good enough to be GEP but fare better than mainstream student .. Which means you child mayb at the top 10% of his school Corhort Excld GEP

Neither the top nor the average. 😄
Could it be the reverse: parents of top pupils do not want the average pupils to be near their kids results...you get the impact right?

                    Waiting to be flamed.... :imdrowning:

...No wonder MOE knows that there is a very big gap between the good student and the average student in terms of attitude towards fellow classmate. My DD is in an integrated class that is mixed with GEP students... You can already see the attitude among them.. And it's not good

My DD Sch hv mix the top 10% of the mainstream with the GEP during certain lesson..which mean during MT & some other gathering they will be mix together.. Hence DD will be going to some of the GEP class or vice versa ..

Hi skyhigh 18. Can you please elaborate on those I underlined? TIA.

During the lessons .. The smart one will dominate the class and they will still grp among themselves .. By mingle among them may or may not do well with the confidence of the kid....because most of the stuff they already know ..

Ya, better pack both inside the bag first. You are always so 'motherly' (not auntie ah). Thanks and all the very best to your ds. Glad that you have come to term with the struggle.
