DS doesn’t want hold hand with me in public but if we need part ways he’d still give me a quick kiss. Sometimes when I insisted on holding his hand, he’d put his hand straight down as if trying to hide…a weird feeling like I’m back to my own teenage years - cannot let relatives catch me holding hand with boy.

For DS school, the form asked for the number of family members attending.
My DD just mentioned it to me but I think no forms given out yet. But told my DH d date.
Thanks. -

Isn't a quick kiss better than holding hands? -

Usually my P4 son will come and ask me about dialect swear/vulgar words that he heard but don't know the meaning.
That is vulgar? :scratchhead:Triple Js:
there was once she accidentally use the word \"walao-eh\", i started to :stompfeet:
I'm serious...always thought it's just an exclamation or a mutation of the 'wal@n eh' which, of course, is vulgar.
The very first time I heard he said 'wa lau'.
So I asked him, 'Hey son, do you know what's the meaning of that?\"
He said, \"I don't know leh but I guess is 'My Goodness!'\"
I said, \"It means 'My Penis!'. It's not so nice right esp speaking it in front of girls.\"
Then he went into the Ermmm.... mode and from that time onwards, I have not heard him say another time of these words.
PS:
As far as my know, 'wa lau' is a 'sibling' of 'wa lang'. I was told this by someone. So after explained to my son, it's really up to him whether he still wants to spout this outside or not. As least, he knows what he is saying if he chooses to say it...
PS:
About two weeks ago, my 19 years old son shared an encounter with me.
He was sitting on a bench around the playground with his friend.
They saw two primary school aged girls (about P4 / P5) playing there.
He told me, 'Mum. we were looking at them and they seem so innocent and sweet and that made us talk about our childhood.'
Then, another primary school aged boy came and joined the girls to play.
In the mid of the play, they heard one of the girls shouted at the boy, \"Cao Cxx Bxx. You go away!'
My son and his friend looked at each other and went into the 'Ermmmm' mode...
Son asked me what's happening to the children nowadays... -

Somehow assumed it meant something like \"what the hell\" , not something vulgar. No wonder I did not stop the kids from saying it occasionally.
I cringe to think of the times I used it, :faint: :faint:
must explain to DS .

Wow I have so many times heard people use these words and I really thought they are like "oh my god" or "what the hell" type swear words…
Generally I will ignore these comments when some one is using it…
Next time must show my angry face and ask them not to use it in presence of ladies…or kids… -
Sun_2010:
These are actually 'work-around' to avoid punishment. Other eg include 'basketball', 'what the fish', 'zhi dang gao' (cake) etc

All the while, I thought words like WALAU, WALIAO & WAPIANG are just some kind of Singlish, do sound a bit ungenteel, but didn’t know they are actually vulgar.
Hmmmm… Really not sure whether shd classify them as vulgar words though, but since it seems ungracious to use them, then it’s best to tell kids not to use these words.
