My (P5) dd's English teacher told the class their oral and listening marks today. One girl cried inconsolably after getting her marks. The girl scored 49 out of 50!!!!! 29/30 for oral and 20/20 for listening. Near perfect score.

The girl told the teacher that her mother would scold her if she did not get full marks. The teacher tried to console her and told her that she would call her mother. The girl asked the teacher not to call as her mother would get even more upset. The teacher then said she would call the father instead. The girl again said no as the parents would end up quarrelling.

To the mother of this girl (if you are reading this forum), you are so fortunate to have such an intelligent and, more importantly, very sensible daughter. She deserves your praise not scolding for achieving such a fantastic result. Please don't ruin her life.
I will be on cloud nine if my boy can get such excellent scores!

It’s only a matter of time before this girl breaks down mentally. Sounds like someone I know who was forced by her mum to achieve full marks in primary school.

For P2 go to P3, streaming is purely based on cohort ranking or any other factors? Per subject or overall score?

May I know what’s the "real" difference between HA and MA classes? Like pace of curriculum? More exposed to higher order thinking questions? Thanks.

May I know the benefit of (non-geppers) going to META? This group of kids are HA students, I would presume? Besides this group of kids who are selected for META, is there another group of HA that is not selected for META?

I think some parents mentioned that top2-5% kids (out of GEP screening) will be offered META...
