Once you decided to participate in balloting it really depends on luck. If it turns out unsuccessful you would have to be in the Phase 2C supplementary. At phase 2C sub, most schools (In demand) would have already being taken up. Just to share with you a friend of mine in recent P1 registration the hard process she went through.

Day 1 – Submit in Rosyth School (She is more than 2Km)
Day 2 – Rosyth called her said she better withdraw as confirm no chance. She withdraw & register in CHIJ Nativity
Day 3 – Still safe as not many people register. At 4pm whole crowd of applicants (1km & 1-2Km) came in where she straight away game over. She simply had no time to run to other school to register.

Thank you for sharing. So if I volunteer with CHIJ and then apply under Phase 2B, if I do not get in I can then try MGS? Is there a way where I can register with CHIJ under Phase 2B and watch the situation in MGS and then last minute pull out of CHIJ and try MGS? Too risky? Or no such possibility?

You will see that there is balloting for MGS even in 2B for >2km in 09. That also means no problem for 1-2km folks. Who knows how it will be when it's your turn? On the other hand, CHIJ has no ballot in 2B. At least you won't have to worry your socks off, having spent those hours in pv.

Sorry to say but your stratgegy has to be the opposite. Coz by the time you get to 2c, you'll be right back to your problem: balloting at MGS and Pei Hwa. But I see that your chances are better at CHIJ, even in 2c.

Once you get into CHIJ at Phase 2B can already :celebrate: .
Don't need to go into Phase 2C as you very likey to face ballot & it is like :stupid:

U mean u want to withdraw after getting a place at CHIJ at 2B and ballot for MGS at 2C??? It is possible, but verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry risky !!!!! Unless (which is quite low chance) during your year of registration, that everyone staying 1-2 km of MGS get in at 2C with no balloting required.

I count myself very blessed as I'm old gal of both pri schs and my kids are all set. I hv 2 gals and a boy (6, 4 and 2). I was going to send the gals to MGS and boy to NYPS but that means i hv to shuttle to 2 diff places when they are all in sch (still many years to go). Am I asking for trouble? :? :?

Every morning I drop off DD at 7am at NYPS. Then I will proceed down Bukit Timah Road to get to work. So I have to first fight through traffic trying to go into HCI. Then when reaching MGS, I see another huge line of traffic trying to turn into MGS.

So yes, they are not that far apart, but it will take you a long time to get from NYPS to MGS. I imagine you might need to drop off the NYPS (and youngest!) boy before 7 so that your girls can be on time.

Why not consider putting all 3 in NYPS?

I will personally do the same
Which is more impt? Convenient for you or a great school for your girls?
Hb & I hv already decided long ago if I have a girl, we'll hv the same arrangement as you. Whoever has more self-discipline will reach school first (so can go school early to read story book or ask teacher questions).

yeah, i live in btw the 2 schools but traffic is a major concern! i worry tt my elder gal may not be able to cope in NYPS, she’s definitely girls’ sch material. do u know if mid stream transfer (like in P3 or P4) is easy these days??
