:udawoman:Hi happy heart,
We managed to finish all books except the PSP book by Fabian Ng.
My dd attempts the book in the order I listed in my earlier post. From easy to higher level. For any topic she starts in book 1 and then progresses to next book for same topic.
I find 'get me thinking book' quite good as it shows step by step how to draw model and solve.
On sponge is taught in school so I just look into it to clear doubts. As such teacher sends back most of the worksheet as homework to be done at home.
PSP book was not finished as it has too many repeated type questions. DD doesn't like working on same type of questions. But dd is trying to complete the PSP book now. Just to revise before we move on to P4 level.
I did buy the FAN math heuristics book. But we left it incomplete after one topic as the rest of the books were quite advanced than that one. Thinking of not buying it this year. Too many books are stressful too.
Before exams we will attempt past year papers.
I really don't calculate how much time she spends on maths. I just assign her task each night for each subject which she needs to complete the next day. I am a working mom so this works fine for me.
She will try to complete whatever she can. Any doubts are cleared when I am back. I try to do correction the same day before moving on to next topic.
DD1 is my first born. So trying to find the best way to guide her learning journey. I realized that she has some issues with fraction type questions. But working on PSP book is helping her.
There are many more experienced Ksp parents here. And am still trying to learn from them.
Thank you for sharing! Your DD is as diligent as you, and I am sure as she advances to higher level, she will be very independent as she already has the discipline so deeply rooted in her at an early stage! Must learn more from you :please: -
Hi sleepy and happyheart,
Agree that my DD is hard working and mostly she will try to complete the homework assigned to her.
But she is still a kid, so sometimes will drag her work, or be distracted by my son who is 3 yrs old only.
Overall she will try her best.
I gave her one whole week free of homework (except Chinese tuition homework) after Sa2. She was so very happy
She loves to read too. So this holiday letting her read books and doing some book review with her.
How do you guys handle compo practice for English and Chinese? This is one area I feel we both need to show more attention.. -

from what I understand, the 20% voucher gave out in sep/oct magazine only valid till 6th Nov 2013. I managed to use it b4 the expired date. Unless there is another form of voucher given to you when you made purchases at the store which I am not too sure, that might still be used at the fair. -

My 2004-born DS1 is exactly like yours! I'm trying to have faith..but... :frustrated:
I have my fair share of tug-of -war and hair-tearing moments with DS1. Despite all, he has a kind heart and is a fillial son, it is not possible to be angry with him for too long. I have learnt to accept who he is, focus at his strength, have faith and be patient. DS2 has a more self driven personality and I am thankful for that, BUT I will never trade anything else for DS1. He is what makes our family whole!
Your DS will come around, trust him. :hugs: Give him encouragement and one day, he will turn around to say thanks to you! -
mother777, your dd is really diligent. I’m getting my dd to do assessment books on all 4 subjects each day but still can’t make it. Sigh… Too many distractions

Giggler1,
DD also sometimes tries to play possum by saying she forgot to do some of the homework assigned.
Then later once I reach home, I will make sure that she completes what was assigned to her on that day. And somehow with me present she will finish the activies in record half the time..
DD finished about balance half of the PSP book Fabian Ng in 1 weeks time. The same thing during school time she took eternity to do..
So if they have the will..they will do it..if not drag all the way..
Yesterday had a hearty talk with her to check if she really knows:
Why she needs to study?
Why need to study each subject?
What are the professions she knows of and got to know her perception of what that person does in that job?
To do a particular job or excel in that profession what subject knowledge is needed?
Is it ok if we don't study one subject?
Do we need to master all subjects to succeed in a profession etc..?
Hope DD learned some lessons from this..
Motivating kids to study is the key I feel..
Lets just try our best to support them dear..hopefully rest will fall into place..
DD1 has decided she wants to learn cartoon drawing..so told her if she can finish all the assigned task (don't forget or drag it till I come home).. then I will teach her how to draw cartoons..
Lets see how this motivation works..:) -

I will not be buying as many books this year as I did in previous years. Many of them went unused and my dh is understandably unhappy about it (as am I). Will probably get something for English and Science, that's all. -
I did not get any science assessment bks as the ones I bought earlier were untouched. So selling them off. Bought visible thinking last mth bec 50% disc. Forced him to start on the 1st topic. My cousin gave me 2 English assessment bks half done. So didn’t get any eng assessment bk too.
But I am desperately looking for a gd English tutor/ctr in woodlands pref. The furthest maybe AMK. Pls help. Thx. -

Wait! You have a P4 ds and you are selling off your P3/4 science assessment books already? :scratchhead: Can he not use them in the P4 year? Just wondering...Steadyberry:
Did you get the P4 Visible Thinking in Maths books? Where did you get the discount? I am looking at getting these books for my dd, too. Thanks!Bought visible thinking last mth bec 50% disc. Forced him to start on the 1st topic..
