Q: The patient must take his medicine regularly. Only then would he get well.
Given ans: The patient would not get well unless he took his medicine regularly.
Can the answer be: The patient would not get well unless he takes his medicine regularly.
Please explain.

he or she can only go with ‘is’, so the sentence in only correct if "John’s sister is taller than he is"
So therefore the correct one is him. -
