We tried walking from redhill mrt to CGS, very far. If want to take bus, must walk almost half the distance to the bus stop. Then might as well walk all the way to school. So I find it quite inaccessible, as there are many condos there so can't cut thru unlike HDB voiddecks.

There is another Gate(for parents who drive their kids) which is opens on Road behind the school. That gate can be used by walk-in kids as well. Route to the gate is
-take a walkway( in between Metro Condo & SKY condo) from Red-hill MRT turning to left as you exit station.
- Take overhead bridge to cross over the Alexzandra road.
-walk after till Tanglin view condo ends towards south
- turn left to lead to road/gate.

I am not sure which route you tried... the main one, crossing traffic lights at 4 cross road is definitely longer

we took the overhead bridge at redhill then took the right stairs down then turn left and followed the pavement. passed by the park connector. We saw the school but it was not the main gate - it's the gate leading to the sports field /stadium? Can we use the park connector? Is it nearer to the main gate?
As you take right straits down , you have to walk fair bit before turning left( Till Tanglin view condo ends). You will cross park connector & should look for proper road. Walking on the left pavement of road should lead to Gate.

Alternative is main gate... for which you don't need to take overhead bridge. just follow main exit at Red hill MRT & walk to right along Metro Condo , cross traffic light at 4 cross road , pass by another condo( Tanglin Cresecent) , a bus stop, before going up hill to reach main gate.

Park connector is parallel to school's Gates , hence not very useful.

ok, if dd gets in, then we'll try the alternative way to main gate. Thanks!

The bell rings at 7.30am. After 7.30am, 1 demerit. After 8am, 2 demerits. On rainy days, after 7.35am, 1 demerit. Assembly starts 7.25am-7.30am usually.

singaporekid,

So if dd reaches by 7.20am at the guard house, she is still fine???

Hi MMM,

Safest bet would be to reach by 7.15am latest. This is to allow for the time taken to register your dd's attendance at the i-ok station. There may be a long queue.

Hihi, just to check... Is the teaching at crescent girls lower sec adopting a teach less n student learn more approach? Bec happens to hear from friend that her gal's teacher does not really teach a lot in class. A lot is dependent on students themselves. And how does the upper sec cope w the increased intensity in the learning then? Maybe someone can enlighten? 🙂 thanks!

Hi kkc_friend,

What I am stating here is based on my own observation and experience of having 2 girls in CGS.
In Sec 1, the girls are given time to settle in and get used to the life in a secondary school(especially after the stressful PSLE) .
The pace intensifies as the level goes up. Maybe the school does not want the girls to burn out before their ‘O’ levels.(We have sec 1 parents who are complaining that their girls are having too much homework!)
Emphasis is also on project works and preparation for Junior College to survive among the IP students.
I strongly believe that if the student is willing to work hard and put in the effort, the school will work hand in hand to bring out the best in the student.
If a student is not motivated, it is difficult for any teacher in any school to work with the student as the curriculum is heavy with limited time being another factor.
The school is also working towards making the girls self-motivated and independent learners which will be a great asset for the girls to survive out in the world.
