      Hi,

I am new to this forum. I too wanted my son to be in RV which is very near to our house. Not only avoiding \"O\" level. Now all the top JC are IP. NJC, HCI, RJC etc. That will leave very few selection for our 'O\" level graduates. Since he is in Nan Hua now, I decided to move on, and concentrate on what Nan Hua can provide. I particularly like the Chinese culture appreciation Prog where he get to learn calligragphy, painting and chinese medicine. He is in class 101. So far he is enjoying himself, happy that the school allow handphone. Though complainting tired unlike Pri school half day. He is selected for Symphonic Band and today is the first lesson. By the way, The Parent Support group has organised a welcome tea for parents this Sat.
Hi computerkid, this is your 1st post in KSP, a big welcome to the family (KSP & NHHS).

Yes, many of us also felt the same way initially, however, are now happy seeng kids settling well in NH. DD came back and told me abt 弟子规- this was mentioned in one of the culture talk. I didn't even know what's that! pai seh

hi, glad to see all kids are settled down happily in NH. Usually their passion towards their dream school was very strong during the selection and posting period. After 1 to 2 weeks in the posted school, they would naturally love the environment and friends. However, I also have seen cases of taking a longer period to adapt, mainly because of the type of friends they met and the teachers. Anyway, they would still blend in well. 😄 😄

Hi julongmun, need advise from parents . my kid complainting not enough time for meal. Only half an hour for recess, lunch and between 2.30 to3.00 before their CCA. I dare not ask him to buy things from the bookshop because after queing up, he has no time to eat. Yesterday I was shock that he did not eat at all. Skip meal during recess, told me assembly took up their lunch period. Teacher conducted remedial lesson after school 2.30 to 3.00. After that 3 to 6pm CCA. He came home exhausted, hungry. and need to do homework till 10.30pm until I ask him to sleep.
I am sure the problem is not unique to him. CCA, enrichment, remedial lesson and so on is common to all students. How are your kid coping

            hi fxchow,

My DD in 108. She was very happy with the class which she quoted 'the enthusiastic class'. She also felt that the Orientation Camp is 100 times more fun than the P5 camp.

She will take part in ball game as CCA that she has to attend training 3 times a week  sounds 'siong' I hope she can cope mentally and physically. How many days your DD has to stay back in sch for NCC?

Yes, she has many homework each day though some need not be completed by that day as need only to hand in the following week. But I always tell her to complete as much as possible so not to accumulate till those tasks become 'urgent and important'.

Hi sorry for the late reply cos didn't have the time to access to the forum for the past days. Yes, my DD did told me they were released late for makan time and she couldn't finish her meal. Well, to our dismay yet can't control, what I advised DD was that in times when she only have little time to eat at the canteen, she should just go for snacks like sandwish, instead of joining the Q and end up no time to eat the food. Grab some like snacks better than going hungry without food hor.

Referring to your DD no makan break in between class and CCA. Is this an isolated incident or it will reoccur? If this happens often, I would suggest inform either the subject teacher or the CCA teacher-in-charge to be excused for a makan break. Hope this helps.

                        Hi all,

Wow, it's really a concern if the students are not having a proper meal during their breaks. Sometimes teachers/assemblies encroach into the students' break times and there is nothing we can do about it. I'd suggest that maybe the PSG can propose to the school to increase lunch breaks to 40 minutes and have the recess remain at 30 minutes, so as to take into account the time wasted for queuing.

If this doesn't work, I think another way is to suggest to your child to see whether the recess or the lunch have shorter queues. He/She can then choose to go for a meal when the queues are shorter and grab a snack when the queues are longer. Since there are 2 breaks, I think the students should see which break is better to have a meal when the queues are shorter.

As for lunch after school but before CCA, I don't think it's possible to push back the CCA starting time further from 3pm to lengthen the lunch time because the amount of CCA Training time/hours have already been reduced immensely since the implementation of the 5 day work week.

The last thing is to pack food to school altho I think that may be a hassle for some especially the preparation by parents.

Well, I hope this problem can be addressed and it should be raised to the school. Meals are important because they give one the source of energy to concentrate and focus during lessons.
