Hi parents, you can try my dd's centre. She score around 67 for her English in SA1 and this SA2, she managed to score 87. Improvement of around 2 grades. My dd took creating writing and English A* there and her classes starts next week. She is looking forward to her lessons. Her teacher told me me that they will be teaching an interesting way to do conclusion in writing, called the twisted endings and questions ending. No idea what's those in detail but so far he results is improving. Aiming for her to score distinction, hahahaha, too ambitious 🙂

      Hi Karinchung,

Appreciate that you can share with me which centre your dd is in? Thks

\"Success learning centre\" also have creative writing lessons.

Quite a number of parents from far away places like woodlands, Pasir Ris, staying in the north and in the east & central drive their kids down to success every Saturday, for creative writing classes. Saturday is reserved for conducting creative classes. \"Success\" does not advertise. It is by word of mouth that parents come to know of this centre. Or sometimes when an elder sibling has finished p6, and parents feel that \"success\" creative writing programme is not bad, so also enrol their younger sibling to learn & pick up composition skill as well.

A lot of rosyth primary school kids, and kids from Serangoon / Hougang also go there. Mrs Pauline ong is the founder / principal.

          Success got 2 branches :-
One at block 534 Serangoon north avenue 4, Another at ang mo Kio.

Parents can read sample compositions written by p1 to p6 students, before
You step into the entrance of this centre. Each composition hung on the notice board bears the child's name, the level the child is in, and the name of the primary school the child studies in.

Besides reading sample compositions written, parents may also read some testimonials of those students who had gone through \"success\" creative writing programme.

I think if your daughter's fundamentals are weak, then it might be better to look for a private tutor rather than a tuition centre...

              Hi parents,

This post is written for parents whom I miss the pm earlier on and also for parents who have problem in sourcing for a English teacher. This year has been a hectic year with my dd's proceeding to psle an do level next year.

Anyway, to answer to parents who had pm me, my friends who had called me after seeing my dd's paper and new parents, this post is for you 🙂

I would really like to share with you my dd's creative writing class and English class. As a parents, put aside the tuition fees, the traveling, what we want is to really see our dd improves and to help give them a chance to score. Thus, we source everywhere for a good teacher. I have been looking for a tutor for ages. I tired the agency, school teachers and tuition centre. But none really help my dd and even those who did, didn't lasted long sadly as tutors come and go for their reasons.

It was then that I found this teacher. I got to know her through the library, she is a volunteer library story teller. From then, I told her advised and wanted to try my luck to put my dd there. We'll, I was thinking at least just try.

As a parents, we look for branded schools like mind champs and stuff. The centre is really nothing branded like mind champs, mind stretchers and learning lab. For me to pay $160 each month seems expensive for a neighbor centre. But guess what, a year now and I am willingly and looking forward to my dd psle next year. Perhaps to some of you, I may be advertising for the centre and maybe in a way, yes, I am advertising. But, standing in the shoe of a mother, I will go all out to help my girls and I am sure all parents reading this will do the same thing.

Thus, I am writing this to share a new way to help our children improve. It may possibly bet eh solution from now on. My girl really did enjoy and it is a fact that there are results. Jumping from 63 in SA1 to 87 in SA2 is may be easy but I am glad she did it in a fun way. I have recommended a few parents from kiasuparents to the centre and the mother told me that the children are improving as well.

So, since I have personally experience this centre and my friends have too. I really would like to share with all of you this. To be frank, I like the small class size of 6 -8, I like the way they don't just throw my dd the composition and let her write or teach her word for word, I like it more as I can sit in and learn. Price is a concern and frankly, having my girls in p6 and sec4 is taking a toll on me financially but, as a mother, what can I do. I have to just scrimp on myself and try to give the children the best i can.

I really urge all parents who need helps in sourcing a good English teacher to go there. There is no harm trying for one or two month just like how I initially thought. What matter most is, we gave our children a chance to learn from teachers whom others recommended. If it turns our good, your dd will benefit greatly 🙂 there's no harm trying, I tried and now I am relieved.

Hi, i am interested to find out more as I face the same position as you. I have tried to tuition schools for my gal but yet there was not much improvement. Care to share with me which tuition centre you have put your daughters to? Thanks a lot!

              Hi Ladies,

I used to have the same experience but I managed to find a good tutor and recent SA2 results, my kids did well, all above Band 1 from 60s range.

I have pm you Belle. All the best!

Hi, I read some very good reviews about True Learning Centre in this forum. The tutors are all very experience and dedicated. They have a branch in Jurong and is opening another one in Kovan. You may check out this KS forum or their website if you are interested.

I would prefer a tuition/enrichment centre which specializes in English (only), to one which offers a number of subjects under one roof (eg. Eng, Math, Sci, even MT)…

                      Just my opinion…
