Did not enrol my dd2 in other tuition. I’m thinking if weekly tuition at MS doesn’t produce the result I want, then it’s probably not the right approach for her. Got to think of alternative method. MS is not effective or group tuition is not effective?

Meantime, I intend to ask dd1 to sit with dd2 to coach her 1 to 1 this holiday & monitor before deciding on next step

I just like share my 2 cents on my experience with Mind Stretcher. Based on my kid P2 Total test results (all band 1) from a SAP school, I started to think enroll my kids to Mind Stretcher P3 (HA) class as according to Mind Stretcher introduction, HA class will have faster pace plus vocabulary been taught will be more difficult than Achieve class. This is improvement area I’m looking for for my kids. However, we was been advised that need to sit in placement test which we are ok with it as thought it could be help them understand which weaken area my kid are and are they already grasp the basic concept. Few days later, they called me and informed that my kids failed test to enter into HA, reasons more on misunderstood the comprehension question & compo starting too sudden and vocabulary is low (which I thought that’s the reason I’m sending my kid to MS). I accept the reality and their filtering system as this is how they operate, but curious to take a look on the paper, they doesn’t allow and just re-emphasize the teacher who mark the test paper are qualified teacher. I was start to wondering if all the good English student already know how to excel their test perfect without join the class, then eligible for HA which naturally will attribute to good PSLE result. what will be their normal class student results looks like?

Indeed, it is not easy to find a good tuition centre that pleases every parent in every aspect. If you find one, you are very lucky and you really have a peace of mind. So far, I am one of the lucky ones who has enrolled my children in True Learning Centre in Jurong. I have been very pleased with their services, especially in the area of teaching. Not only are their team of tutors experienced and qualified, they are also very committed in my children’s learning. Talking about what they learn every week has been our family favourite topic. We are informed that they are opening another branch in Kovan and I think the parents there are going to look forward to their opening.

Mindstretcher also offer Chinese enrichment in selected centres. http://www.mindstretcher.net/doc/98/raw.html

It will be a tough battle for Mindstretcher to conduct Chinese enrichment at Bishan, given that Tien Hsia and Berries are within their vicinity.

                      Hi all,

I tried mind stretcher for the primary level for a year. Result? No change. Teaching is minimal, so if you don’t understand the concept, too bad. At the end of the year, they call and ask you for the results so they can advertise that students achieve A or A* becos they studied with them… so how about those who never improved or worse, slide down? 90% of our student get the SAME results!! Yeh!!

Not surprising as there are so many students in each class. No doubt the brand is famous, what boils down to Mindstretcher being good is that it is more of an enrichment centre. Basically, it is just another branded tuition centre that sounds good to the ear and it invests heavily in advertising (you can see advertisement on the buses) When you tell others that your child is with Mindstretcher's, your face also look good (用钱贴脸. Ultimately, it depends on the type of teachers that the students get too. If you are lucky to get a current school teacher, you are in luck as it makes your every cents worthy.
