My son got his braces done at emBRACE dental surgery. He didnt need to extract any teeth though. However, i paid $4200 for the whole package including all adjustments. Quite reasonable.

My DD did his braces for only 3.8k.

Dentist was very very professional and experienced.
Dr Cheng from Mount Elizabeth. No regrets.

My DS has a slight gap between his front tooth and the school dentist has given him a referral letter....Maybe will try Dr Tan.

Not sure if he needs braces for that.. 😄
Just an update.. ..My DS got his gap fixed at Embrace by Doctor Tan in late April earlier this year and his braces were off yesterday.
His front tooth 'protruded' about 8mm then and he had front four teeth in braces only.. All corrected now and he will just need retainers at night for a year.. :rahrah:

Can someone recommend any good and reasonable priced orthodontics in NE area?

Do the orthodontics need to be near to home? Will there be frequent visit? Is it worth to go for discounted rate at government hospital?

What age is suitable for the braces? I seem to hear different views. I was advised to delay until all the permanent teeth are out… is that correct?

So sorry so the string of questions. TIA!

dd and ds both had spacers placed at their back molar yesterday. This is to prepare for space for the metal molar band that will support the braces.

Today both of them are in pain due to the thingy the doc put in the gaps of the molars, total 8 pieces.

Anyone experience this. How long will this pain last.

I see dd quite stressed by this whole journey ahead. First, the pain from the spacers, then the trauma getting to pull out 4 pre molars, then the braces. How do you help to ease your kid’s fear. I feel quite bad she has cope with the school work and all this. Luckily her brother is taking it better. I know he is scared of the extractions too but too macho to say so.

Check online for dental clinics near ur area. Best to find nearby clinic as to save time on travelling. Average will be one visit for every 1 mth to 2 mths.

Have checked before gov hospital, understand long queue for appointments, and prices is actually not much cheaper (avg ~4K). Therefore faster to see a private one near ur place.

Teenagers are suitable for braces aldy, so dont worry, the ortho will advise also.

Just tell them to think of the end result! My kids didn't need any extractions, thankfully, and modern technology makes the whole thing much less painful than in the past when I did it. I had braces on for years, had 4 extractions when I was in Sec 1, and my mother didn't even accompany me! I just went by myself, had the extractions (1 a week over a month), and went home by bus, mouth full of bloody gauze and all! And the pain from each tightening used to be so great that I had to drink soup and eat porridge for 2 days, then only soft food for another day or so. My kids had only mild pain and were eating fairly normally after 24 hrs. Not sure it will help your daughter, but it's just something you have to live through if you want straight teeth.

I agree with slmkhoo. The suffering is worth the beautiful set of teeth that you will be rewarded later.

My ds went through 27 months of braces until its finally off n now he is using retainers.

What is the duration of using retainers?
