DS and DH went along šŸ˜„ . All boys that got through appeal were there except one. Maybe that boy is currently overseas :scratchhead:

DS is excited about 7-Eleven. His friend said there is a 7-Eleven in RI but we couldn't find it. Is it true there is 7-Eleven there? Where is it?

      Your DS is a 7-11 fan ? šŸ˜‰

It is situated at the JC section. After the bookshop, walk further up, nearer to the JC entrance (Marymount MRT side). DS likes to buy waffles from there, sometimes cup noodles too. There are also many sandwiches / snacks / drinks vending machines around the campus. No need to worry our boys will go hungry.. šŸ˜„

Is your Ds taking public transport to school ? On rainy days, it is advisable for the boys to alight at Marymount MRT station, (turn left) walk through the underpass, exit just at the JC entrance, and walk to the Sec Sch section. Sheltered all the way from Marymount MRT station to the school.. šŸ˜„

He is not 7-11 fan but he is food fan! He was amazed that a school can have Popular and 7-11 šŸ˜„

How to open the gate near Marymount MRT? Is it using ezLink card? Can secondary school student get an access to open that gate?
Can tong-pang the big bros & sis, when using the JC entrance in Jan/Feb.. Once the boys get their new EzLink cards, they can have access to all gates (many of them) in RI..

Did you all explore the Boarding and swimming pool side?

In case you have not been informed, all classrooms in RI are air-conditioned, so may be quite cold. If your DS is 怕冷 type, better to bring a sweater to school. My DS is ꀕēƒ type, so he really enjoys studying in the COLD.. šŸ˜„

Thank you for the info, Firefly :hugs:

Btw, can the boys use ezLink card to buy food from vending machine and also 7-11?

Our guide during the Open House showed us the Boarding and swimming pool. Does PE include swimming?

DS likes cool temperature but not cold. I guess I will ask him to judge first before bringing his sweater. Any sweater can?

Is there any rules and regulations sheet? In DS's primary school, the rules and regulations are printed in the school diary and we must sign to acknowledge and agree to it. So we know the disciplinary action for each misbehaviours. When he was in lower Primary, the list was useful to scare him that his school will cane him if he misbehaves and I support his school's disciplinary actions šŸ˜†

Sorry for the so many questions :imsorry:

Hi there! I'm looking out for transport service from our home in Tampines to RI. Any recommendations?

I've called the numbers on the flyers handed out on Registration Day but no one's come back to me. Thought I'd standby a few in case that falls through. Tia.

Btw, do the students need to memorize the poems? There is a book of poems for sec 1.

They don't memorise poems anymore. It's more like analyse poems using literary devices.

I dont know abt this year but last year, the boys were asked to compose poems.

            šŸ™‚

DS knew he got his 1st choice subject combi last month. He just told me his new class. A few boys from his Year-2 class are in the same class as DS.. šŸ˜„

Wonder how the Year-3 classes are allocated. By subject combi, then GPA ? Do the sports classes remain intact in Year-3 ?
ds said the class allocation for year 3 done both by subj combi followed by GPA. But I am also wondering about the sports/dsa boys - are they mixed with the rest according to subj combi?

So relieved šŸ˜“ DS thought if the poems need to be memorized then he will start memorizing now šŸ˜†

Do you have any tips for Chinese? Is it better to start practising compo now? Is the compo like P6 compo?

šŸ˜‚ your ds is very hardworking. Ask him to relax and enjoy the last few days. They will have orientation the first few days right? So no lessons yet.

I am in no position to give any tips for Chinese...haha...Chinese is my ds' weakest subject .... and mine too..... And he didnt do Higher Chinese in Pri sch but is now doing it coz he wants to clear it at O levels.

But from what I know, the writing in year 1 is quite different from P6. They look at content too - has to do with something that they can relate to everyday life. More descriptive. For later months, your ds will learn 'dian you' or email/letter writing - personal. That's what I gather from ds' feedback.

Hope it helps....maybe other parents can give more valuable feedback?

Think can only use cash (Popular & 7-11 can use Nets).

No swimming lessons for Year-1 & 2. Not sure about Year-3 & 4. But the boys can go to the Gym & swimming pool after school, I think.

Can adjust the a/c temperature in the classrooms. Can wear any sweaters in school, but the school & CCA sweaters are nice.

Don't remember signing the Rules & Regulations handbook (actually I didn't even look at it). Believe the school expects the boys to be mature enough to handle responsibilities (& bear consequences) by themselves with minimal parental interference.

Any idea where in the west can we get solid fuel? (For obs raining)? And are long sleeve t shirts really compulsory as indicated on the list?

DS is worried that he would be at the bottom of the cohort so he had started reading now šŸ˜„ Anyway, for the past 3 months he was just rotting on the sofa so I guess he is eager to do some reading. I don't think it will be the same 3 months later. Maybe I would have to  to get him read anything that is school related šŸ˜†

DS screamed when he saw the email writing pad yesterday šŸ˜“ Chinese will definitely be his weakest subject :nailbite:
