All About A Levels

Haha yeah I am a more artsy person per se. IB, to me appears to be a more atas type of education. My parents and I have talked about going to a cheaper institution, which is why I ruled out Raffles, even though their elective programmer is reputable haha. So yeah, although I'll keep IB in mind, may I know your personal opinion on the 3 institutions above?
All 3 are very good JCs. If you are from VS then I assume you are staying around the East hence VJC would be more suitable.
You seem to be quite a Humanities based person. Do you want to consider a more broad based education like the IB ?emoh:
Hey guys! 2 weeks till results are out and I'm dying already! ._.
Anyways, I've been brooding over which JC to select over the past month and I've been down to 3 Jc's, in which I'll list my combi and my impression of the school! ^^
1. NYJC
-Math
-Econs
-EL & L
-EL Lit
-Impression: warm school that doesn't judge haha. Great school character and facilities apparently as reported from my friend.
2. VJC
-Math
-Econs
-China Studies in English
-EL Lit
-Impression: crazy enthu spirit that's higly contagious. However, is it me, or are Victorians more self-conscious? I'm seeing so many with branded stuff.
3. NJC
-Math
-Econs
-EL & L
-El Lit
-Impression: from what I've gathered, it's a more introverted society there, but offers equal opportunities for leadership.
What are your impressions of these schools? Which school would you recommend? Also, would you recommend EL & L or China Studies? If I've offended anyone, I'm truly sorry.
If you are a Singapore Citizen and score L1R5 of around 8 points or less, you would get the ESIP which would be equivalent to a discount of $200 off the school fees per month at the independent JCs (RI, HCI, ACS(I) & SJI). -
Hi
Can someone advise if IB students stand equal chance as A level students in entering the local Universities? Are A level students the preferred ones whereas IB students have to be prepared to go for overseas studies?
Appreciate any helpful advice.
Thanks. -

Noted. Thanks.

@emoh
As for distance, VJ and NYJC take arnd 35 minutes so no problems there. NJC takes around 1h so if by chance I get there, I’ll apply for the boarding programme and stay at the hostel there or smth haha. So distance isn’t a prob.
Also, PR here, so no subsidy for me then
Hence the real decisive factor is which school overall, is more preferable, in terms of vibe, the school culture etc
If you’re a student of any of the three schools or have friends in those 3 schools, please share your experience! ^^ -
hello, would just like to check something - if I have passed higher chinese in o levels and choose to be exempted from H1CL in A levels, what would it say on my A level cert? would it show my o level higher chinese grade or would it just say that I am exempted?

I just got my results today and I got raw score 7 and 4 for bonus points so nett score is 3.
I am a little torn between hci and ri.
most of the people from my school (a chinese school) is telling me to choose hci but I would like to know more!
I am attending hci’s open house tmr but is most likely unable to attend ri’s on wed.
besides, does anyone know of the chances of me getting into either of these schools since my nett score is 3 instead of 2?
and what are the chances of appeal??
thanks ^^ -
I thot entry point for both RI n HCI is 3? Its best you attend their open houses n have a feel of the school culture n environment.
Both schools are equally good but I think most people would prefer RI compared to HCI (just like those who has to decide between RGS n NYGS). RI is THE SCHOOL n only the best can enter.
However, do note that you need to flow in with the school culture (HCI is definitely more Chinese oriented vs RI) in order to excel.
Good luck to your selection. What did your parents have to say? -
Hi…
Can anyone help providing me with the info on innova junior college. and how is it compared to catholic junior college. i need it urgently. thanks a lot. -
Got raw score of 8 pts and net 6 pts.
Not sure whether to pick TJC or NYJC.
Anyone can share about TJC and if it is competitive. Would an average reserve student be able to cope in TJC?
