All About A Levels

Noted. Thanks.

@emoh
As for distance, VJ and NYJC take arnd 35 minutes so no problems there. NJC takes around 1h so if by chance I get there, I’ll apply for the boarding programme and stay at the hostel there or smth haha. So distance isn’t a prob.
Also, PR here, so no subsidy for me then
Hence the real decisive factor is which school overall, is more preferable, in terms of vibe, the school culture etc
If you’re a student of any of the three schools or have friends in those 3 schools, please share your experience! ^^ -
hello, would just like to check something - if I have passed higher chinese in o levels and choose to be exempted from H1CL in A levels, what would it say on my A level cert? would it show my o level higher chinese grade or would it just say that I am exempted?

I just got my results today and I got raw score 7 and 4 for bonus points so nett score is 3.
I am a little torn between hci and ri.
most of the people from my school (a chinese school) is telling me to choose hci but I would like to know more!
I am attending hci’s open house tmr but is most likely unable to attend ri’s on wed.
besides, does anyone know of the chances of me getting into either of these schools since my nett score is 3 instead of 2?
and what are the chances of appeal??
thanks ^^ -
I thot entry point for both RI n HCI is 3? Its best you attend their open houses n have a feel of the school culture n environment.
Both schools are equally good but I think most people would prefer RI compared to HCI (just like those who has to decide between RGS n NYGS). RI is THE SCHOOL n only the best can enter.
However, do note that you need to flow in with the school culture (HCI is definitely more Chinese oriented vs RI) in order to excel.
Good luck to your selection. What did your parents have to say? -
Hi…
Can anyone help providing me with the info on innova junior college. and how is it compared to catholic junior college. i need it urgently. thanks a lot. -
Got raw score of 8 pts and net 6 pts.
Not sure whether to pick TJC or NYJC.
Anyone can share about TJC and if it is competitive. Would an average reserve student be able to cope in TJC? -
Fewo:
Your impressions of the 3 schools are quite accurate.
1. NYJC
-Impression: warm school that doesn't judge haha. Great school character and facilities apparently as reported from my friend.
2. VJC
-Impression: crazy enthu spirit that's higly contagious. However, is it me, or are Victorians more self-conscious? I'm seeing so many with branded stuff.
3. NJC
-Impression: from what I've gathered, it's a more introverted society there, but offers equal opportunities for leadership. -
So I have a L1R5 of 12 raw, after CCA deductions is 10. I wanted to get 9 so I can get into MJC, so it was a real disappointment. Silly me thought it was fine, since I was only 1 point away. Turns out when I asked around the chances of me getting in is near zero. The next choice would be SRJC, but none of my friends are going there (it seems like a stupid reason but bear with me). Both schools are nearly of equal proximity, but many of my friends are going to MJC. Also, my parents are scolding the hell out of me, saying that SRJC is not as good and if I go in I’ve wasted my 4 years studying since I’m only as good as a 12 pointer blah blah etc. So I want to appeal into MJC, but I don’t have any special CCA thing they want and they didn’t say anything about non-CCA appeals. This is also my first time trying to appeal, so I don’t even know a single thing to do. Or should I just settle for SRJC and call it a day? I REALLY want to get into MJC but I’m also okay with SRJC. Please help me, I’m very lost. Many thanks.

Put MJ first choice SR second. Honestly SR is one of he better mid tier JCs and if you look at their cop over the years it has been improving. Also the retain rate in MJ is really high (like 100++ people retain a year). But it’s worth giving MJ a shot since SR is pretty much a 100% get in option.
