I gave my son $2 for recess. Today he came back told me he used up the money to buy a cup of corn and milo. Think it will take him awhile to understand what food to buy to fill up his stomach that will last him till 2pm than his favourite food. For now just let him learn it the hard way?
I would agree to that. They will learn the value of money very fast. But do talk to him casually every now and then. Tell him that $2 is all he is getting and it is more than enough. Encourage him to try out the different food from the different stalls. Encourage him to drink plain water (I assume he brings water bottle to school as well?). Another way is to let him bring his fav packet drink from home (it could be cheaper than buying from school canteen).
Some kids are just not a good eater and find that they can eat some snacks and it can last them the whole day. Some are just too afraid to venture to the other stalls and eat proper food for fear that they do not have enough time to eat and fear they may end up not finishing their food on time. If your son is the latter, maybe give him a friendly challenge and ask him to try out a food from a particular stall and tell u all about it when he comes back.. like giving reviews, etc.
Fyi, my son just had muffins today. He said he wanted to eat from the Malay stall but his buddy insisted on buying food from the drinks stall.. hahahhahaha.
Give them time.. soon enough they will be buying food and bringing back pencils and erasers that you don remember buying for them.. all with $2.. hahahahahaha
Yesterday he was so happy to tell me he didnt used up his money. He had only 2 chicken nuggets for recess. End up he was so hungry that he asked for 2 helping of his lunch at the student care. His reason.. he want to go play soccer hence no time to eat..faint -

the student care is within the school itself.so far how is the student care?
isn't inside the school and what they do during student care?
isn't necessary to put P1 student into student care already
sorry to ask so much
student care is like childcare.. it's a place for working parents to put their child coz they have no one to take care of their kids. so whether u put yr child there or not depends on your support system. -
Experienced parent, can help to advise on what to pack in bag for coming Monday? Just follow subject in timetable given, and throw all things inside. When do they need the white board and marker?
As for student care, it is really scary to see less than 10 student left when I picked my DD around 6.10pm on last Friday. Can imagine if I were those left, less than 5, around 6.20pm. How can we communicate to school to extend the school opening hour to 7pm? Through phone call to school office? Or any email contact? -
Monday should follow actual timetable. Things like the report book etc should just leave it inside coz its a sure thing for the teacher to collect. Other things like the whiteboard etc, the teacher should pass the instructions to the kids when the time comes. Usually they will get the students to write the instructions in the pupil’s diary for the parents to check and ensure.
As for student care… last week a lot of parents are on leave. Hence not surprised to see lots of kids being picked up early. This coming week should be a good indication of the actual situation. The earlier threads seem to suggest that some parents have already written in to the school to see if they can extend the school hours to 7pm… not sure what is the outcome of that request. -
School provides many balls during recess time for them to play.
-
but during PE it’s not like last time… during our time for PE, the teacher will juz give us balls and we will go and play what we like. Now PE is very structured… they do a lot of balancing, motor skills, etc. If I recall last year the closest my daughter got to playing a ball is to learn how to bounce, roll and kick a ball. no free play.
checked with my other teacher frens and apparently even PE has some syllabus for the teachers to follow now. -
just to check with those P2 parents, any CCA in this school ?
