        CNS:
        Hi, All,

Is Courage still the best class ? Any streaming at end of P2 ? Pls kindly advise.
No best class nowadays. Allocation end of year 2 based on position... Example 1st to 3c, 2nd to 3d, 3rd to 3e... Etc

            dark chocolate:

            hi snowbell,

there is no SC inside the school but there are 2 SCs just opp the school. One is Canopy and the other is Sherwinn, you can google for more information about the centres. I think Canopy does not accept new students, only those that graduate from their childcare as they don't have enough teachers or space. SCs usually close around 7pm (Sherwinn closes at 8pm) so you won't have to worry about SCs closing earlier than school unless its a SC closure day which you will be informed during beginning of each year.
            Hi dark chocolate,

            Thank you for your info.

Anyone placed their child in Sherwinn student care centre?
Does the staff fetch the students from poi ching to their student care?
Do they ensure students completes their homework and learn spelling before they are allowed to play?

Hi fellow parents... my girl is in P1 Justice. 🙂

              Hi Snowbell,
I did check out Sherwinn Student Care previously. I was told that they will fetch the kids back to the student care if we are not able to pick up the kids from school (after school). The kids can stay in the centre till 8pm.

                  Hi mothers,

I would like your 2 cents of advise. I am from a non chinese speaking family, and me and hubby can’t speak chinese as well. I can speak and read a bit, but very basic chinese. I stay only opposite of Poi Ching, but I am afraid to put my son there because of the chinese level in the school. But, Poi Ching is the only school that is within 1 km from our block.

Is there any of you that also comes from the same background as our family? I am still contemplating about Poi Ching due to the chinese. How can you as a parent and child cope up with the school requirement?

Thank you in advance for your kind help and advise!

Is your child a Chinese ?

If your child is non-Chinese :-
First, contact Chinese hod, at Poi Ching primary -
Ask whether school allow your child to take Chinese, as mother tongue.
The standard of Chinese in this school, is very high.

Yes, we are chinese, but I can’t speak chinese well, and we are not from a chinese speaking family as well.

Actually I want my son to join SHPS, as I know Poi Ching has high level of chinese, but my block is just the opposite of the blocks that are within 1 km, thus we are considered 1-2km area (T T). That is why I’m thinking whether I should try Poi Ching? I’m just afraid that it will be very stressful for my son as well as for the parents

                        hi,

                        Understand ur concern.
yes agreed lots of work for the parents.. helping the chd to recognise chn character every 2-3days they called it 生子关.
they hv an interactive system for it. It cost $18per yr to subscribe. . It will help you & ur chd to cope wif d demanding chn text..personally find it quite good n worth d $

Well cant denied the standard is high bt on d pro side, it helps to set d foundation for ur chd even better. I hv since pulled my DS out fr all chn enrichments coz PCS r oredi cover well beyond. When d day cms for P3.. they will b revert back to MOE prog, by dan ur chd can swim liao...hee

On d other hand I hv friends tat r msians who dun understd a single chn character. The kids r doing well. Parental involvement is critical in a chd's learning journey.
Be it in PCS or any other sch if you wan ur chd to excel n enjoy d process of learning. .

just my 2 cents... hope it helps...
                        cheers
