When will the P1s go back to the King's Road building? I heard that they will only do so in April or May 2015. Is that true?
According to the information sheet my dc just brought back yesterday, the P1/P2 should be back to King's Road campus in Jan 2015.

Every CCA is different. Some welcome anyone but a few are only for school team or through selection. Most students start CCA at P4 (or is it P3?) but some start since P1. Mrs. Lee even mentioned one was allowed to join a CCA before joining NYPS (while in kindergarten, of course a special case).
Every year, there is a CCA orientation e.g. there was one this Monday as shown in the school calendar. In the calendar, there is also a P3 Recruitment Day for Boys' Brigade next Monday.
So, the best is to check with the teacher in charge of the CCA your dc is interested to join. -

I hope they move back as early as possible. Logistically quite a nightmare for us on certain days. -
On the topic of gymnastic - a friend of mine had her girl drafted from nanyang kindergarten to join the NYPS gymnastic team, as the teacher identified her as one with \"talent\". According to my friend, they start as young as they can find them so kids can represent school by p3.

I just received invite for my kid to join the table tennis CCA. I am just sure what it entails and hours of training. Personally if I can choose I'd rather my kid gets \"invited\" to join the swim team...lol .. But also duno how this works, really. But apparently the power houses in NYPS is the Chinese dance & international chess! -

During the MTP for P6 yesterday, Mrs. Lee mentioned that the school website was hacked recently. I usually refer to the hardcopy school calendar for any upcoming events. -

I have a friend whose son is p1, nanyang primary this year.Hello, may I ask if you know of any child who entered Nanyang Primary through gymnastics talent? I'd like to find out what the criteria, standard or entry process like?
Can you also share your experience with gymnastics (CCA or competitive) at Nanyang if you have had any please? Thank you.

Nanyang primary only offer artistic gym (ag)
Ag is for both boys & girls.
no rhythmic gym (Rg)
If Nyps girls keen to learn Rg - then, they have to learn it, outside of school.
My friend said her son started ag since k1, at the gym inside nanyang premises. My friend started him off as an exercise, just to let him run around, because he is an active boy.
At the end of k2 last year, after training for 2 years every week, the coach feedback to her that her son has got potential, to join nyps school team when he's a bit older.
(Because now he's only p1)

Alumni members of Nyps, under phase 2a(1) and 2a(2) or under phase 1 sibling,
(Example : kids born in 2008, 2009)
You may let your kids join ag, from k1.
No need to wait until p1 then come & join ag.
Within 2 years (k1, k2 kindergarten) -
the kids would have learnt quite a bit of skill.
Their body at this age is highly flexible, can bend forward & backward easily, turn somersault.
Most of the coaches are from china, rather strict in training & teach the kids self discipline & perseverence, through ag training.
As many alumni members tend to enrol their child at July p1 registration,
The gymnastics team allow them to join & receive training, at a young age.
By the time they reach p3, with the years of training received thus far, they are ready to join school team, for inter-school ag competition

If you are alumni member of Nyps, interested to enrol yr child into ag from k1/k2 -
May call up your school, get the contact number of the coach from your school

Perhaps first, call up school to get hold of the contact number of the head coach.
Definitely, she'll ask you -
Where have your child been receiving training in ag, all these while, in your child's current school ? Then she may call up your current child's coach discreetly -
Ask for feedback about your child's progress, in ag thus far.
How is his learning attitude like, how is he overall ?
Head coach to head coach communication
The circle of ag coaches is quite small in sg.
She may even know your child's current coach, as a friend.
After receive positive feedback, she may arrange with you, bring your child down, let her assess your child.
After she assess, she will give you a frank opinion, of what is the rate of success of transfer, into Nyps, based on ag cca.
If the chance is high, then proceed with submit transfer forms into Nyps, with necessary supporting documents. The principal of Nyps would also like to hear the opinion of ag head coach.
