dd was from a SAP school and there are probably less than 10 non-chinese in school. Frankly, when she first come across quite alot of non-chinese in Crescent, that was an adjustment for her. But one of her good pals in Crescent is a Indian. So yes, that is very positive in multiracial Singapore.
DD always had a mixed group and her best friend since P1 is Chinese. They are used to celebrating all festivals in school as well as each other's homes so I don't think they look at it as anything different. As long as there is something to celebrate, they are part of it :).

No info till now but I think it is no CCA or other lessons. Nan Hua left them at 10.45. DD is only interested in half day today as they are meeting and she has CSP. Otherwise she would much rather stay in school. CNY decoration is one of the lure. She has told me to scout for decorations in Chinatown and let them know if I see something worth a trip for them to buy.

dd asked me for redpackets ytd. They wanted to form chinese characters using those redpackets. But it was good that non-chinese girls are also joining in the fun which I think is good. In fact, dd told me that there are more non-chinese girls who stayed back for the decor.

            Hi,

Based on my impression, it appears to be a session for the sec 1 to connect with their sec 3 seniors. Seems more like a fun/ interactive session. But as to what they do during the session, I need to check with dd.

Thanks a lot. DD was feeling a bit sad as she has to miss all the fun. I told her that she can always speak to the seniors outside peer leader session time. But she is too introverted to seek someone on her own, unless really critical.

Anyone with Sec3 girls going to OBS next week? Anyone bringing a luggage instead of a backpack which seems too small? :0
                  Thks!

                      Hi everyone,

My DS is in P6 now. I would like to know how is the environment and culture of CGS, teachers and values the school impart? Is it highly competitive in academic pursuits? How does the school support students who are weaker in terms of academics? Care to share the pros and cons of the school?

CGS is 'All' Girls school. No place for Boys. šŸ˜„
For benefit of Other parents, it's probably best school for 'Girls' living in West.
                        - It is know for strict rules & enforce it with demerit points.
                        - Quality of teachers for both science & humanities subjects
-Tablet PC program( funded by Info comm) which will make you ready for corporate world earlier. E-mails , e-books
                        - Sec1 & Sec 2 will be tough, there are strict criteria for taking A maths & Triple science.
                        - Music Elective program is in running for 5 years.
                        - Quite good CCA achievements at National levels
                        - Consideed value-add Schol (from PSLE score to O- level score )
                        - Strong Alumina... Creates life long belonging to school.
                        - Most importantly , it will help create Independent individual. Learns to take responsibility of their action.

                        Flip side.

                        - No affliation, so bonus point for JC admission doesn't exist.
-No IP program( It is strength actually.,, that make it focus on O level cohort)
                        - School building is old . Hopefully , it will not move to holding site in near futhure

                        Hope it helps,
