I’ve just increase ds pocket money from $25/week to $30/week. $25/week left him with nothing at the end of the week cos he spends about $2 for drink and sandwich during recess, about $3 during lunch (that’s $5 liao). On the way back from school, he says sometimes he buys something to eat cos hungry. So from this, definitely $5/day is not enough for him. So starting today, I’ve given $30 for the week and see how it goes.

$6 per day for my Sec One girl. She eats lunch outside since she needs to stay back in school most days. EZ-link top up and all other school related expenses are given separately.

Can share how your boy come back by public transport ? (Been trying to find out if there is a faster way)

Is it bus from Dunearn Rd at NJC to Newton MRT, then MRT change at Raffles Place, MRT to Simei, then Bus from Simei MRT to Safari ?

Or he use the Express 518 ?

          Thanks
Oh i'm his boy's classmate he takes 154 home.

I am also thinking of giving on monthly basis.

But how much you think the kid should bring daily ?
hi, for my kid i dont care how much she bring, usually she will bring like $10 a day, unless she need to buy other items.

So the $150 you gave her in:

                a) 3 $50 notes OR

                b) 15 $10 notes OR

                c) 75 $2 notes ?

There is always a risk of theft in school or careless act. My dd’s school actually discourage them to bring 1 week or 1 month allowance to school. So dd try not to have more than $10 in her wallet, unless need to pay for extra things.

But you didn't ask her to bring some \"emergency money\" in case got lost & need to take taxi or what not ?

I used to put aside \"emergency\" money in a not-so-obvious compartment in her school bag during primary school days ($2) in case she lost her pocket money for whatever reason. It is all the time there. DD understood that it was not be touched except under urgent circumstances. Now that she is Sec sch, it is at higher amount.
