Salary should by right stop on the day the maid is sent to the agent, for example if you send your maid back on 4th feb but by 12pm, so you pay only till 3rd right…i think this should be the way ,then the levy goes on … or some agent may charge you til the day itself the maid is sent back.

Don't tell her before hand. Tell her and watch her pack within 15 to 30 mins and bring her to airport, give her her passport only when she is going to departure gate, keep her work permit card and send it back to MOM yourself.

But don't they need to present the WP at immigration at the airport? When I sent back my previous maid, the immigration officer asked her for the WP and she walked back to the departure gate to ask me for it.

If this is the latest policy, then it would save us a lot of hassle.

It is suppose to be (stated some where in the special pass document): There is a place (after immigration)to drop or someone specifically to take her WP card. I always thought it would be the immigration officer.

But my first experience, these officers did not do their job. Few months later MOM wrote to me saying that my maid's WP not returned and I later found out that my maid took her WP back with her to Indo because she forgot and no immig officer asked her.

There after, I always keep the WP to return myself. Also better not to trust agent. I have received letters from MOM before why my (another) maid's WP still not returned, several letters when I asked that agent, she said sometimes MOM mixed up. :scared:

My indon maid of one year bought two hps when she was three months in my employment, without our knowledge until we discovered her yakking away when doing her work. I confiscated her phone and a week later, discovered that she has another Hp. As agreed with her, I will keep both Hp and return one to her at night for her bf to call her.

This arrangement went well until we discovered her stealing coins that my hubby kept in a bottle. I also discovered my Swiss knife and nail cutter missing from my travel pouch. Denied everything and insisted that she wanted to return to Indo. Agreed to send her back. Two days later, pestered me to send her back by 1 feb, which I refused as my new maid has yet to arrive. On CNY 1st day, she showed off her two hps to my sis’s maid. It was only then that I discovered that she has ‘stolen’ back the 2nd Hp that I am safe-keeping. Also saw my nail polish in her luggage bag.

Indo maid may be more ‘submissive’ but they have rather bad record in honesty. I am waiting for confirmation on my new maid’s arrival and to send this current maid back to her hometown.

Maid agency make more money when they transfer the maids. I think this is the reason why the maids are so bold, they do funny things to annoy us and make us send them back to agent to transfer.

They are taught all these tricks…very quick to say they don’t want to work… want to go back to agency, want to transfer. It cost them nothing!

I think MOM should really look into this and at least restrict their transfer to only once and then should just ask them go home and re apply to new employer. It’s really maddness to allow them to transfer and transfer, they could not care less but inconvenience us!!!

Best is not allow transfer at all…they just move from one place to another at their whim and fancy wasting our time and money!

I did call up MOM, they also mentioned that we can cancel the maid work permit from WP online. Around 30 mins to 1hr time we can print out the special pass letter. This letter we need to pass it to the officer that stand at the gate. The work permit need to pass it back to the MOM work permit counter. This is the info I got from the MOM officer.

Btw, as long as we give enough time for the maid to keep their things and bring them to airport safely. That will do. We don't need to give any advance notice for the maid. Those agency just want us to bring back the maid to them co's they can earn agent fee from other employer again.
Totally right. Agents are more than happy to receive return maids for transfer. Returned maids have to pay 2mth salary (~$1K) as punishment and new employer pay the usual agency fee ($288 or watever). So you can see a lot of motivation and incentive for asking u to return maids and getting lousy maids in so that they get transfer often.

Any tips to prevent maids from hiding in the toilet and using their handphone for a long time?

lol, every time your maid go toilet, take note how long she spend inside and how many times a day she goes inside lol… funny right, but no choice

tell her to put her HP outside in front of you then enter toilet

LASTLY, if maid still going on with her mobile toilet habit, take it away from her.

Would you keep a stubborn overly experienced maid? She is good at cooking but not dilligent with kids. I have a tod who needs to empty his bladder every hour due to his past medical history, but she keeps forgetting to bring him to the loo. reminded her upteen times and got her a notebook to write down the timings so that she can remember the last timing but she didnt use it. fabricated timings at the end of day just to show the entries to me.

Did you state your house rules on her first day?
