I got it confused too. For the moment I thot it mentioned due to he being 热情 he made friends with anybody, so that included 穷人. Because of making friend with 穷人 he gathered a lot of writing material and that lead to him writing about them later on.

It depends on how you look at it. So answer could be 1 or 4.

The way I understand this passage, is to learn about how to write, by taking note of what one sees, hears. The passage uses Jack as an example. Therefore the focus is on how he disguised as a poor sailor to talk to people whom he met in the shelter and the park in the day time. In the night time, he wrote down what he saw and heard. From this description, we know that his true identity is a professional writer or author. In paragraph 3, the word poor sailor is also in quotation marks.

Therefore, Q26 is to test the student's ability to understand Jack's objective of making friends with the poorer people.

If the question is asked the other way around: “穷人为什么要跟杰克做朋友？”then the answer would be 1, because 穷人don't know his true objective, but only because Jack appears to be very friendly.

请问：高级华文试卷二的语文应用B 组词语不当 问题 ，PSLE 是否只接受一个答案？不当的词语中是不是有一个字是对的？

先声明我不是华文老师，最好是请你的孩子问一问学校的老师比较好。

我手头上没有PSLE的考卷参考（2010年PSLE的高级华文试卷是新格式对吗？）。

但我参考了《高级华文课文复习6A》（Educational Publishing House），语文应用B组，问题中有错的字/词，有的是一个字，有的是两个字的。如果只有一个字，那一个字就是错的。如果是两个
字，好象都是有其中一个字是对的。唯一的例外是练习七（77页），就有一个词“低声下气”是四个字的。 :shock: 还好，这题的答案是“垂头丧气”，因此有一个“气”字是对的。 :lol:

因此，不当的词语中是不是有一个字是对的，可以接受这个说法。我想这是他们给（新加坡）小六生的考题中的一个“提示”(tips)吧！

PSLE是否只接受一个答案，我真的不敢回答。 我答错了会害了你的孩子！
