Fundamentally not much change, there's still continuity. -
So glad, my kids showed me the holistic assessment framework and test schedule (schedule applicable to dd1) after LNY heehee. At least I get to enjoy LNY in ignorance bliss. I have a feeling they wouldn’t have showed me if no signature was required LOLOLOL.

Eh, btw, I am not on the organising committee. Very grateful that someone coming up with such a ‘lim teh’ session with Mr Ngoh.
I have asked the organisers how we are to make payment (cheque, or if there be a collection booth in school etc).
Will be bringing my family along; but no way am I performing (excuse is too shy but real reason is untalented). Hope to see a good crowd there. Also, excess funds goes to charity…also good also good.

One thing of interest is that school will discontinue ICAS testing from this year onwards.
I was undecided about signing DD1 for it this year, plus not planning to DSA, though also not sure if ICAS carry any weight for academic DSA. So this piece of news, I’m quite ok, though my eyes still lit up when I read it. -
Huh? I wonder why they stop ICAS. I don’t know about others but last year, we signed DS1 up for English, Maths and Science. Never prep for the exam (ok, didn’t know can prep even) and the poor kid went in ‘blind’. To us, it’s a window to see how he is faring compared to other kids his age.
Was an eye opener also cos we didn’t anticipate persuasive writing (ie how to sell the idea) and he thus far was only taught creative writing style. that said, he wasn’t dampened by that poor result for that paper and just took it as lesson learnt. He was pretty heartened by his results in the other papers.
Don’t tell me it’s another of those ‘better we dunno the results so that kids wun feel stress’ kind of thing. -
Your guess about the reason why is as good as mine.
The reasons given are being consistent with the emphasis away from paper-and-pen test and towards holistic assesment, plus to make better use of the curriculum time taken to administer the tests, I take it as kids’ lesson time was eaten into becos of the tests.
