:goodpost:If the email had been a complimentary one, thanking the school for the wonderful things the teachers had done, then perhaps no one would object, even though it is private?
In any case, if any post contravenes the terms and conditions of this forum, we trust that the relevant personnel/authorities would politely ask the forummer to take it down. For the rest of us parents, no one is above another, to intimidate and question another, his/her intentions for submitting a post; much less have the authority to tell those who feel intimidated to remain silent.
Given the longstanding lack of communication between school and parents, if parents shy away from sharing information or alerting other parents to what is happening in school, then we would have to work even harder to obtain such information.
Hope some relevant REFLECTIONS, which have been long overdue,
is going on...
In fact, if there have been proper respect and proper mannerism(which majority of parents here do GRACIOUSLY observe actually),
there is totally no need for whatever security code!!
Just like for e.g.,u just need ONE bully to be in a school,
that is enough to make a school horrifying and torturous to attend..
You don't even need TWO!! -
& would like to take this chance to express my sincere thanks to all parents who BRAVELY share their experiences+feedback here for past few days…
All the sharing is important to many parents considering Pei Hwa and also for existing parents(who may have registered their kids out of pure convenience)…
Cheers!! -
I cannot understand why you can harp on this matter for such a long time.
It seems to me that you are implying that a certain parent posted intimidating comments which is already taken down.
First of all, I am sure if the whole email is not posted in full, the response would have been totally different.
Moreover, personally I do not find it intimidating when one question another his intent of posting the whole email. I think he/she raised a valid point to be addressed.
However, I find you more intimidating to accuse someone of putting another down when it may not be in that intention.
You probably repeated the word gracious like a dozen times but seems to me that you are the ungracious one refusing to let go.
I am all for sharing, do it with ethics and I am sure no one will "attack", "put you down", "blow whistle" or whatever words you can think of… -
On the issue of communication (or lack of) between school and parents - an example:
Just a few days ago, my child came back with a consent form to attend a programme during the March school holidays. Apparently only some students are selected to attend. There was no cover letter to parents regarding what the programme was about. The subject teacher who gave the consent form to the selected students also did not inform/elaborate to the students what it is for, just a consent form showing the title of the programme, the date and time, and venue.
Without proper information, parents may not be able to make an informed decision whether that programme is important enough to, let’s say, change March holiday plans to allow the child to attend. Surely it is only right (or dare I use the phrase, "common sense") to provide parents with adequate information, in the form of a cover letter attached to the consent form? Otherwise, parents would then have to individually contact the relevant teachers to enquire, if they are interested enough to do so. -
I thought for a long long time…not sure whether I should share what I didn’t dare to previously…
I think and think, though it happened 2 years ago, I decided I should share now, only hoping that it serve as a reminder to fellow parents to be vigilant and more conscious to their children’s need for attention…
When my girl went p1, she was kissed on the cheeks by 2 boys, on separate occasions, around a few days to 1 week apart…
As a new parent with primary school going child, I was very shocked and at a total loss…
I wanted to post here to get advice,
but as my previous posts on safety worries regarding school bus without seat belts, were already being downplayed HERE, to be my own paranoia,
I did not dare to imagine how my concerns would be downplayed again,
since something which involves safety and thus lives of budding young kids can be treated outrightly as trivial,
I don’t think emotionally, I can take it if molest cases is treated as EVEN more trivial??!
Maybe downplayed as American-styled way of greeting?
Or maybe laughed at for being old fashioned??
Thus with such intense fears, I decided not to post it HERE…
I feedback to form teacher, who actually asked a very offending question.
She asked : what did she do, to make the boys kiss her!?
Imagine my shock!?
I told her: what do u mean?? My girl did NOT do anything!!
Luckily, she realised her question was not so appropriate,
subsequently, she handled the case well…
Though personally, I felt that the parents of the boys should be informed,
but Teacher felt there was no such need,
I respected her opinion and as it did not recur,
thus I rest the case…
Thus I do not believe in suffer in silence…
Imagine my girl suffer in silence and did not tell me??
Or when she tell me, if I believe in suffer in silence, and tell her never mind??
what will be the consequences??
I would like to thank her Form teacher of 2 years, whom I think handled the children’s character-building quite well…
as there was another bully case which involve a girl who always make my girl lend her books and end up do not return to her…
Again, I didn’t dare to share here…
in case, some may think I am stingy over a few books?!
sorry, I may have thought too much,
but genuinely, I fear the unexpected reactions & comments from people…
And luckily, this Form Teacher handled it well again, thus I really count myself and my girl to be lucky enough to have this teacher who is able to see and understand my concerns,
and able to counsel the kids involved and make them understood what is wrong with their actions…
She is deeply missed by my girl, who cried when I am not able to let her join this teacher’s cca which she is in charged of:)
End of my last post and sharing:)
coz saw some post…
as a victim of intimidation
(to the extent that I don’t dare to share on molest cases),
yet being accused that I accused…
I don’t know what to say/how to react…
I rest my case…
Sigh…
think I better retreat to silent mode… -

are you implying that parents whose kids have left pei hwa should stay away? -
Hi all, I had been busy for a while and was just checking in yesterday when I ran right into the middle of the … Anyway, let’s forgive and forget and be friends again. Please do continue to share concerns, information, etc regarding phpps here since we all know the school is still not that good at communicating w parents. Not all teachers are good. Not all are bad too. Someone’s excellent teacher who got all her kids into the top class was not my gal’s cup of tea many years back. I respect her as an excellent teacher but really hated her for crushing my gal’s love for school & phpps. My gal never really recover from that disastrous one year and had developed a very poor attitude towards learning. But well, 命中注定。。。
On a lighter note, as usual, I love to update on swimming events :
Interprimary swim meet coming up in April. Those who are interested please go general office to get form. Else send email to Mr Tan (hod Pe). I’m looking for another 2 P3/4 boys to get a relay team going for my boy & his friend. Please pm me and inform Mr Tan asap.
Also, just in case anyone interested, p4/5 boys playing waterpolo can take part in a waterpolo match this end March. It’s a selection for 10/11yo to represent Singapore in junior waterpolo match held in Italy coming June holiday.
That’s all. Chill, guys!
