Request for options regarding situation with maid.

Maid has been working with us for 1.5yrs. attitude good, works diligently .
But security camera shows her going out of house at midnight and back 2hrs later. when asked, she denied. when given proof, she says she went as her cousin brother working in Sg construction industry had lost purse and wanted food and some urgent cash. given food from house and her salary.

In this case, there are many holes in the story.......
If they guy is already working in a SG co., he must have other friends here. He calls up a girl cousin to put her in this situation to sneak out of the house?
Did he call late and asked her to bring food and money ASAP? At midnight?
Are there Phi, Indon or Myan male foreign workers in construction in Singapore, what capacity?
Is your maid Indian, Bang or Sri Lankan?
Does she feel entitled to take your food without asking because she has been doing her job?

I think the main issue here will be breach of trust.

Firstly the going out of the house at midnight without informing you, then giving food from the house to a stranger (in this case even though she claimed that person is her cousin but nevertheless still a stranger to you), and then the denial when first questioned.

Ask yourself can you trust her any more, and whether you want to employ her further also depend on her job scope. If she is entrusted with care of young kids, then you have to think carefully. If you want to continue with her contract, then by all means make full use of your security camera as a deterrent. Let her know that you have installed many security cameras covering all angles of your house, so she will know of their existences and whether she want to cross that line again.

                  Hi,

My Indonesian maid went to bed at 10.30 pm and woke up daily at 5.30 am. She will start to do the housework after 8 am, cook lunch and other household chores. I have 3 schoolgoing children.

Mine wakes at 6am daily, to prepare drinks & simple breakfast (bread with nutella etc). And she cooks lunch daily, on the days when the kids have CCAs etc., she will bring the lunch to school for them. Cooks dinner for the whole family too.

oh forgot to mention, though i didn't formally give permission, she retires to her room at 9.30pm every night. I do not allow her to fully close the door though, so that I can still call out to her if I need anything. But usually, we will check if she has fallen asleep before calling her. Most of the time, she is still looking at her phone :slapshead:

She wakes up around 6.30am and prepares the kids for school. She can be in bed by 9pm if she can get my kids in bed. They always sleep at the same time but its often 9.30pm when they sleep. They share a bedroom.

Of course must cook lunch and also dinner! Housework can "slowly" do but we need homecook meals. So now she does housework SLOWLY lor.

Mine wakes up at 5 to prepare lunch for the kids to take to school. With them being in school 4 days of 5 till around 3 pm, I prefer that they take home cooked food!

Once we’re all out of the house, she is free to do the housework till the kids are back from school. Then give them milk, snacks, take them to tuition if needed and then prepare dinner.

We usually eat early, so she’s done by 8:30, after which she retires to her room. She’s usually on the phone for an hour or so before she sleeps.
