All About Full-Time Maids

I m having some problems with my current maid. She’s been with us for 10 months. I let her have a hp since she came here for her to contact her family in Indo. She’s a fresh maid, married with 2 teenage kids. In the beginning she was ok with not using the hp during work which is one of our house rules.
But 2 weeks ago, I caught her using the toilet more often n when I caught her that she’s using hp in the toilet I lectured her but didn’t take her phone fm her. A few days later I caught her again using her hp when she was playing with my son in the room. This time I confiscated her phone.
My dh told her that we will confiscate her phone for 2 weeks. N today when all of us were out n she was alone at home, she used my house phone to call her "cousin". When I tried to call the house, the phone is always engaged. When I got home I checked the call history on my phone n I found that her "cousin"s no was the last dialed no.
What should I do with this kind of maid, always doing things behind our back even after being reprimanded so many times? This is a small matter but it proves that she has a very questionable character. -

As for me, I allowed my Indon maid to use her handphone even on daily basis. I gave her instruction to use the phone only after 9.30 pm and let us know first so that we will not disturb her during her conversation with her family.
This will minimise our frustration having to know that she secretly using her handphone in the toilet. -
This has also been our instruction that she should only use her hp once she retire to her room which is usually about 9pm. Hardly she needs to work beyond 9pm. So unless she’s taking us for granted as she already know our schedule or she’s testing our patience.
I am in the process of sending her back to Indo coz I don’t believe in letting her transfer as her character is highly questionable. -
Anyone give wifi access to your maid?
Maid bot a $500 samsung hp in Dec. Initially I allowed her wifi access but she abuse the use of it… alwy on facebook, youtube, tango, instagram & any other apps you name it she has it!! At first I tolerated her as her cooking & housekeeping standard are good. But finally I was so fedup that I burst out & confiscated her hp for 2 weeks. Want to return her hp but not sure if I should give her wifi access. -
Seems like hp is the root of all evils. I think u shouldn’t let her use yr wifi. I’m case she engages in any illegal activities u will also be implicated. If she can afford a $500 phone I m sure she can afford to subscribe to a data plan.

Well said, if the maid can afford a $500 HP, she can afford her own data plan. They can afford a lot of things, don’t be surprised if they can also find a lot of boyfriends to provide them all these things.

No I did not provide wifi access to my maid. She somehow find a free wifi access from my neighbour at one corner of my house, I can see her wifi-ing at that spot frequently leaving my baby playing alone when I am working. I just close an eye since it is not excessive. It is best not to allow the helper to have wifi access unless you are sure she has high self-discipline. Temptation at the cyber space can be great and my helper was nearly got scammed.

Once they get wifi access, they don have to sleep at nite playing with all the apps. End up tired during the day.

Handphones seem to be quite an issue with the maids these days. Moreover, it is quite hard to control.

I let my maid uses her HP from 8:30pm to 10:30pm (Mon to Fri), after 10:30pm I will keep her HP so that she can sleep early. On weekend, I let her use the HP from 2pm to 10:30pm. So far she is fine with the arrangement.
