      Hello!

I am an old MGS girl, I attended MGS secondary school.
      (not MGS primary)

Does this mean my daughter can enter MGS primary?
(sorry in advance if this question sounds silly)
your question is a valid & relevant one.
Many former / ex MGS Secondary school parents share your same concern, too.

Below is school's reply, from school administrator (MGS primary school):-

\"Yes, as per instructions from MOE (Ministry of Education) for several years now, MGS is considered a full school for Primary 1 registration, and thus ex students from MGS Secondary school are considered as eligible, for registering their daughters in Phase 2a.

For an ex student of MGS Secondary :-
She will be eligible to apply her daughter under Phase 2a(1), if she has joined alumni, at least one year before the registration date.

      For example
In order to register for intake P1 2015 :-
Phase 2a(1) registration will be held in July 2014, so parent must join alumni before 30 June 2013 to qualify, or if she has not joined alumni, then she is eligible to apply under Phase 2a(2).

The first pre-requisite for a child to apply for Phase 2a is :-
the child must be a Singapore citizen or a Singapore permanent resident. This criteria is the first criteria, for all Phases : 1 to 2a, 2b and 2c.

      For Phase 2a application :-
Parent is to produce proof that she had studied in MGS previously before -
Either through a report card / book, or \"GCE O level\" certificate, or school leaving certificate.
Originals are needed on the actual day of registration, and photocopy to be submitted.
In order to show that parent is an alumni, she need to produce her alumni member number and the date joined - so that the school can verify, check against alumni database.
Some may wish to bring along a letter from alumni, certifying their membership.
      Hope this help.\"

        Yes it helps a lot!

I have joined the alumni some time back, and I have just dropped them an email to check my alumni member number.

Thanks so much for your help! ๐Ÿ™‚

Does MGS primary have after school care/ student care?

If not, is there after school care/ student care nearby?

I intend to send my daughter to MGS primary. I stay in Woodlands, and it would be more convenient if there is such a facility within or near MGS, so that I can pick her up from there after work..

Please share if you could, thanks!! ๐Ÿ™‚

              Hello everyone,

Checking in now as my girl will be registering next year.
Question: with 1 km, can it be a rented property?

                hi

i think so. during registration, i don't remember being asked if the address we provided is a own-stay or rented apartment. as long as it's within the stipulated distance.

Thank you dreamer. Thought so too but saw a post somewhere about having owned property so that got me confused.

Yes. One of my friends rented a property within 1km from MGS and is still staying in that rented property. She used the rented property for registration purpose last year. She is still staying in that rented property though she has some other houses around in Singapore.

hello i m a hongkonger and will relocate to singapore soon. my daughter will register p1 next year as well. i m looking for a place to stay and the house agent told me that we can only use the rented address given that we have been staying there for at least 2 years. is that true?

meanwhile i m also looking for a good primary school for my daughters. โ€ฆMGS is one of my choices. can you share how good or bad of this school?

Is your daughter a Singapore citizen or PR ?

If foreigner (your dd was Born in Hongkong, HK citizen), can't enter MGS.
Even PR also no chance to enter MGS :-
as Phase 2C require balloting only for SC, within 1 km.

here is MGS past historical balloting info, for SC staying less than 1 km.
