I also thinking of transferring my kids. I will b shifting from cck to clementi 3 yrs later.

My new home is jus across the road to NHPS.
Now my kids r p1 and studying in 1 of the cck neighborhood sch.
I’m stil in a dilemma whether to transferring them to clementi sch.
My kids wil b used to the current sch by p3 but the travelling time will deprive their rest time.

It is v difficult to transfer to NHPS as i’m not the PV.

Need some comments from parents. We are registering my gal this year. We are eligible for Phase 2A2 for maha bodhi but i have 2 gals and we are also thinking of getting them into RGPS but we can only try phase 2c within 1 km. people have been commenting Maha Bodhi is good but we do find the sch surrounding environment kind of complicated with car mart etc nearby. And to try RGPS we need to rent a house there, with average rental 6k a month and we are not able to shift there till year end so that the elder can complete k2 in the current preschool. And we are not sure how is RGPS. Any advice? thx

Hi, for RGPS, the parents of children tend to compare children's marks and very competitive. My friend chose to rent a place near MGS as she felt the environment in MGS is better ( Very involved Parent Support Group) and the parents do not ask how many marks your child get? My friend shared that her RGPS friends who have children in RGPS tend to compare each other marks and always want to do better than the other. Whereas for MGS, she has not met her group of parents who compared marks yet.

no offence...NH is a SAP school, so MT is no longer a second language and 高级华文 is challenging. the morning traffic is terrible, so I understand that traveling time every morning.

No, not Rosyth. Just want neighbourhood school near to my house. Still considering. Time spent on travelling to school and long distance could tire my child out if she is in morning session. Still planning.

All the best to your transfer. :xedfingers:

just ensure your dd do well in P2 and P3.
All the best to her transfer

however since yr daughter had already settled down & she is coping very well in Convent -
if you transfer her to a co-ed (mixed school) near your house , not sure how she'll adjust to the new environment, with the presence of boys.

unless you transfer her to another \"All Girls\" primary school -
that is affliated to good Secondary school.
              example
SCGS, MGS, CHIJ St Nicholas primary[/quote]Thanks phtthp. My dd is very happy in her current girls' school but she is not happy that she has to wake up at 5am to get ready for school if she is in P2 morning session for next year. Her daddy prefers her to continue to study in her current school till she graduates. We are not worried about the affiliation part because she will decide where she wants to study for secondary education and she is responsible for maintaining her academic marks in order to do well to achieve her goals.

No worries. Thank you for your comments. I really appreciate it. 😄
Yah, most probably my kids will struggle if they really get into NH.

Besides the parents of rgps, how is d school culture, eg the principal and teachers? Also do they encourage the gals there to speak up etc or like in some schools kids r not encouraged to speak up but to listen. Also I was told actually their standard is not that high is exclude the GEP classes…

                    hi FB555,

NH will be just across the road from your new place...can be rather frustrating when it is near but not that near...my son was in a SAP school for 6 years...both languages have equal importance 😓 really no joke.

高级华文 in a SAP school is tough...and cannot be compared to those taking it in a non-sap environment. if your kids are comfortable in their present school, do stay put.

There are Total 9 GEP centre, in Singapore.
                        RGPS is one of them.

If that GEP centre does not have the privilege to be affliated to any Secondary school, whereby students do not have any safety net privilege to enter Secondary school at a discounted PSLE T-score :-
chances are students inside tend to strive to do their very best -
Starting from P1 onwards; be it in academic, in CCA, or overall other aspects.
This apply to both (Mainstream + Geppers) pupils.
Majority will strive and target for RGS Secondary (1st choice preference for many) or NYGH, with minority entering NUS High -
Be it via intended earlier DSA route, or via later PSLE score.
Whether they can get in or not, is another story.
                        But, many will strive.
And when they strive, that's when competition begin.

If you have intention for your dd to join School team CCA for Sports category -
Best to start training your dd during N2 / K1 / K2 kindergarten pre-school days.
Better still if she had received Junior competition award(s).

                        Because For certain Sports -
RGPS start identifying P1 pupils to join CCA school team, from as early as P1 Term 1.
Not wait until P3 or P4, then start to identify.

                        Example
For certain Sports like Tennis cca that start from P3 officially -
RGPS does not take in any amateur student (from scratch), to train.
Parents have to train them outside on their own, since pre-school days.

But for Performing Arts CCA, it is not competitive -
Because students perform the CCA, as one united group.

                        For lower primary P1 / P2 -
If pupils are weak in English / Maths -
Parents will receive phone call during the Term from subject Tr - to let their dd attend re-medial lessons, so as to catch up quickly with rest of the cohort, in Mainstream flow.

The school emphasize a lot in character development.
                        For each Term -
Form tr & subject tr look at behavior of each girl in class, see how they conduct themselves in team work, and individually what kind of school work they produce in class ?
The school wants every student to churn in [u ] quality [/u], neat & tidy work.
At end of each Term -
form tr will announce who is role model pupil, for each class ?
Each selected student go up the stage, to receive a certificate of award & recognition.

Besides role model, there are also other designation like Ambassador role, class monitoress role, Disciplinary role, prefectorial role, etc.
Objective is to encourage character building in each student, to excel their very best in all aspects, strive to be all rounder if can, not just good academically only.
Normally form tr and co-form tr will gather feedback from all the subject tr, on the behavior of students in class, before come to common agreement discussion : which pupil to nominate.
The school stress a lot on confidence building, in our young girls -
Be it through speech, through team play, or other areas.

If your dd misbehave herself inside the school bus and other children on the same school bus start to report to Administrative office about your dd behavior inside the school bus, parents will receive phone call, from their form tr

Thus, If your dd is more suitable for a less competitive learning style environment -
Is wiser to stick to Maha Bodhi primary.
