If we hv finish the maid loan we can either return the maid to existing agency or send her a home country?Any recommend air ticket to Phillipines?Dun know sld transfer to other employer as she is still blur like sotong after working almost 8 to 9 mths with us.

hi titank, for airtickets, go online to find. If she's from major cities, can go for budget air. It'll be way cheaper. Can try http://www.airfares.com.sg (Misa travel based in Chinatown, they've been around very long) - their rates are very competitive, I use this as a first resource to compare.

hi everyone, how much do you give your maids for ang pow? For a new maid, my hubby gave $20. I thought it was too much because within this one month, she broke my plate, my clock, refrigerator door. I thought $4 was good enough since I didn’t even deduct her salary for the damage she’s done which of course we all know the garment says cannot deduct blah…blah…This is also one of the main reason why I only have one kid. No support from anyone and the garment wants more Tiger babies???

hi peapot, my maid only works my mum's house. I heard my parents gave her $20. I gave $10 (cos I eat there and my kids are there during the day). $20 is ok - though if she's so careless and all, $10 is about what I will give. $4 is what 'non-family' give lah.

Give her a chance, and keep her happy - maybe she'll try hard not to break anymore things? Keep in mind, even we will break things (although her breakage rate per month is very high). My measure for maid is usually how clean she is, and how honest she is.

Something funny. My mum's toilet window opens in direction of yard. One CNY night, maid didn't sleep but was chit-chatting with her fellow maid friend from downstairs. Poor thing....she was being quite quiet...but her friend talk like loudhailer....my mum was awoken and quite mad at being disturbed. Told my mum she should be happy that not everyone in this patch got maid....else maybe got 高峰会议.

Ha.ha wow $20 is quite a lot to be given to a maid. Most agents said try not to be too nice to the maid is not they would 爬到你头上。

Must have Master & Servant clear distinction. Therefore must listen Master & Servant sing by Depeche mode

I think $20 is nothing if the maid had been with you for long because my old maid each receives $100 during CNY from us. But a new maid who just came simply don’t deserve that $20 yet. When we just joined a company for the first month, we also don’t have bonus until we worked longer. Its my hubby who gave without telling me. Sigh! Men!!!

peapot dear, is she stressing you out so much that you've got the answer there in bold yourself?

Put simply, I'd tell her:\"just because you don't like to do something means you can avoid doing it. You need to do this because....<give>, so please do it now.\"

After she's done....\"good, now must remember to do it <state>. Don't let ma'm have to remind you ah!\"

If she's zi dong, would do it. But don't rely on it too much. Will need periodic reminder! 😉

I used to give my new maids $30.

But since this year, so many people came to my house continuously from eve to 2nd day of CNY, and my maid cooked for them, I gave her $50.

We gave our maid $50. We also gave her $50 for x’mas. She’s been with us a bit over 1 year so these are kind of like a year-end bonus for her.

I used to give my old maid $200 for CNY as ang pow. Then one year, she was really naughty, so I gave her only $20. She gave me long face for a whole year. That’s the year we started to have conflict and she left after 7 years. Hm… this ang pow thingy is sensitive and big issue to them. If you end up giving too big an ang pow, you set an expectation that might backfire.
