Bluebottle:
Do most schools have open house before P1 registration? When is it usually conducted?
Popular schools -
Normally no open house, because often, demand exceed vacancies for popular schools.
So they do not organize any open house.
for Non popular schools -
MOE will put up announcement. (just keep an alert lookout for MOE announcement)
normally, they go by cluster.
ie. east zone - all the schools will come together, for an open hse.
west zone - another set of schools will group together, for open hse. -

Any idea how many PV Mgs has this year?
I think MGS does not have PV , P2B mainly for GRC leaders and Methodist church members
MGS don't have PV -
for parents eager to enrol their daughter(s) in.
for Phase 2B -
only 2 way(s) to enter.
either enter via Methodist church membership, or come in via Grassroot Leaders Activity GRC route.
if from church -
must be a Methodist church member, not any other Christian denomination.
(not Presbyterian, nor Baptist, Charismatic , Free Evangelical, Seventh Day Adventist, etc)
MGS do have PSG (Parents Support Group).
It is called PSG, but not PV (for outsiders).
PSG is for in-house parents -
whose children are currently enrolled students, studying inside MGS primary. -

Please advice which school is better?
1) Please look at the CCAs offered for both schools and see which are those which match your child's interests.
2) Find out about how involved is their Parent Support Group as it is a good network for you to tap on to mingle with parents from different levels.
3) Check the curriculum offered by both schools.
Some schools engaged external trainers to come in to conduct Chinese Speech and Drama class for English and Chinese. Some schools have good e-learning collaborations such as http://www.learnlogy.com
4) Find out from existing lower and upper primary parents how the children interact in school. You won't want to place your child in a school with bad bullies.
5) Go to the school personally to ask for school tour if possible to look at facilities offered in the school. -

hello, just some stats for your consideration for these 2 schools :
1) TMPS --> balloting for SC within 1km in Phase 2C for many past years.
2) BGPS --> balloting for SC within 1 ~ 2km only at Phase 2CS typically.
There was a poll in the thread \"Bedok Primary School\", and if I remember correctly, TMPS is the 2nd choice school after RSS in bedok area. So you may want to consider whether you want to take the risk of balloting in TMPS at Phase 2C.
There was a year (Think 2 or 3 years back) where BGPS needs balloting for SC within 1km in Phase 2CS.
So if you are unsuccessful in your ballot at TMPS at Phase 2C, and it happens BGPS needs balloting for within 1km for SC at Phase 2CS this year....---> this is a potential risk you have to take.
But all the above will not be relevant if you are Grassroots etc and have the option to go in at Phase 2B. For TMPS, last few years Phase 2B balloting for SC more than 2km.
Best of luck! -

Thanks for your advice.
