Be it 285/300 or 185/300…I believe every child have their own talents.They just need more time to explore themselves.

To me,their library of words and numbers is not as important as Attitude.
With the right Attitude, is the only way to move upwards without failing too much.

I disagree. 185/300 is unacceptable for lower Pri. Foundation is way too weak and something is terribly wrong! Maybe day dreaming in class or learning disabilities (have to seek professional help / medical treatment immediately). I probably will die of heart attack. If learning attitude is right, how to get 185. That's why I always tell my daughter, if people without tuition can get 285 and above, those with tuition must get 290 and above. Otherwise, isn't it negative ROI, waste time and waste money!!

Mr. Lim, the estimation is quite accurate. Using my niece's case for example, her results for P5 and P6 were consistently between 93 to 97. Last year PSLE, she got 273+3. Therefore, I think we can use this formula to do a rough gauge. Thanks for sharing!

Based on yr formula calculation :-
means if a child wish to enter sec 1 "integrated programme" instead of gce o level track scoring minimum 255 (to be on the safe side, instead of scoring risky 251 or 252) -
on average, each of the 4 subjects (English, maths, science, mother tongue) -
The child need to score minimum 85 marks, per subject, at Psle.

Because
0.75 (85 + 85 + 85 + 85) = 0.75 x 340 = 255 (eg : cut off point)

85 marks fall under band 1; means each of the 4 subjects (on average) need to be band 1.


For another child, If every subject happen to fall under band 2 means can’t enter sec 1 "integrated program" (can only choose o level).

Example

If each of the 4 subjects score 75 marks, falling under band 2, based on your formula :-

0.75 x (75 + 75 + 75 + 75 ) = 0.75 x 300 = 225

225 is far from 255 -
out by 30 points, thus this child can only select "o level", can’t choose sec 1 "integrated programme" curriculum. (Direct express train to a level)

in primary schools, the banding system per subject (total : 4 subjects) is :-

Band 1 : 85 and above

Band 2 : 70 to 84

Band 3 : 50 to 69

Band 4 : below 50 marks

That shows the zeal and passion displayed by this school Principal, in the way she handle her work which she enjoy doing everyday. Can see that She does it differently, from other P. And parents take notice of it. OLN is blessed to have such P.

Just a word to say that the bulk of the information is probably compiled by the respective teachers-in-charge before passing the entire newsletter to her for approval but nonetheless, great effort by the teachers and the Principal
