      noob:
      Jennifer:

The sch was supposed to give the go-ahead. The Principal said the id shld be our NRIC and the pwd is password. She and those presence this evening also not sure if the Km for parents is ready.

I only know KM for the students was up since last week. Ah boy already asleep, will ask him tmr since noob said she already accessed it last week.

Were u at the meeting this evening? Quite chaotic right, not all teachers in one class, got to go looking for the teachers.

KM portal up and can access using nric and password. But individual profile not ready.

      Thanks for the update.

I have managed to log in using my nric# and the pwd password.

No, couldnt make it this evening. Was it useful?

The Principal gave a general talk, followed by the HOD briefly on the subjects coverage, then we went to the classrooms to have a more personal time with the teachers. As a teacher might take 2 classes, we did not get to see/talk to all of them. Only talked to Ms EuniceTang ( a young lady) who is in charge of CME and IH- Geography, Ms Chong (a young China Chinese) who teaches HCL and can understand & speak English.

Also talked to Mr Cheng (the Maths teacher) who told us more about the Accelerated Maths Prog. Last year this prog was conducted by Stanford Uni (a payable prog) but the sch concluded that the Uni approach is not in line with the sch, so this year, the sch HOD (Mr James) will be conducting the prog. The class takes about 30 to 40 students. If a student does not get selected for JH1, there is still a chance in JH2.

Science has accelerated prog too, but not applicable to JH1. JH2 confirmed has accelerated Sci.

There will be another 2 such sessions. Mr Cheng said that if the child is not coping well, the teachers would call up the parents before these sessions. The KM portal is also used to check on the child's progress. Once a parent logs on to KM portal, the parent will be able to see the child's profile. Just checked this morning, this is not done yet by the sch.

Many thanks for the info. Will try to log on to KM ...

Dont think my girl will even try the accelerated programmes. We are happy if she can manage existing cirriculum. Believe your boy will do well at the acc. prog., heard he is such a pro. šŸ™‚

The Maths accelerated prog selection is not just based on academic test results. Also must be recommended by the teacher. There is a quota too.

I asked my boy how he feels about the daily workload and pace. He said he is able to cope and does not think it is tedious yet. He also hope to get onto the prog to see how much he can be stretched. Anyway, after the selection, there is a trial period of a few weeks. By then, we will know whether the child is suitable.

Thats good, at least there is a trail period. Yr boy is very sensible, wants to stretch himself. Sounds like a very motivated student too.

Heard from my girl that the current maths topic is from sec 3 text ... not sure if it is true.

I asked the teachers why compared to RI sec 1, NJC JH1 seems less homework. The CL teacher said sth like the sch does not want to push too much too soon.

not sure leh. she met a few ex-primary classmates during cny. many of them already quite stressed with schoolwork - dhs, hci, cedar, vs, etc... njc definitely more relaxed - up to now.
