I had a frustrating experience with Pro-Tech After School Care in Horizon Primary School. From my last encounter with the centre principal, i figured that the demand for their centre is so good that they can make thoughtless decision. Take it or leave it. Inflexible, high-handed and lack of planning.

Since they decided to accept only one of out my TWO children studying in the school, i’ve decided to withdraw my application for the one accepted by the centre because it makes no sense for me.

For those parents who consider school based care centres, I noticed that Pro-Tech Centre closes when the school close (eg. PSLE marking day, special school events etc). I thought that’s when we need the centre for - to take care of our children when there’s no school during school term.

Furthermore, Students are to wait in school canteen after say 5pm and outside the school after 6.30pm. So for parents who knock off at 6pm and works in Shenton area, do take that into consideration.

            Hi,

Any recommendation for a good student care? I need someone to ensure that my kids did their school homework.

Please post or PM me if it is more convenient.

            Thanks!

Since they decided to accept only one of out my TWO children studying in the school, i've decided to withdraw my application for the one accepted by the centre because it makes no sense for me.

I went to pro teach two branches to observe as I was thinkin of placing my DS there, I noticed:

              1. Children were not really doing their work. Many were playing with their pencil boxes, drawing rubbish on papers, flipping pencils, etc. girls were chatting instead of doing their work
              2. Teachers were oblivious to children behavior. THEy were just answering one or two kids queuing up to ask questions.

              3. Some boys were dashing in and out of classrooms. They were going toilets frequently and laughing and joking outside class. Again teachers didn't bother.

              4. When I ask the teachers. One school said oh... So happen they are changing periods. I visited the centre three times and so coincidental? Then I ask another school teacher, she said, we are here to help in school work, we are not childcare teachers.... I was like.... Huh... BUT they are not even doing their work....

I urge parents if you feel lack of options plus write to ministry. I wrote to moe but nothing been done. Hopefully as more parents feedback they will build more and better after schools are for full time working parents.

I heard student care centre in Mee Toh Sch is good. Children very disciplined and well behaved.

                      Hi beariecrystal3,

My kid is currently at Pearl Student Care and I’m still finding alternatives. It used to be quite alright but now with new management, it doesn’t seem to be well managed. All the old teachers are gone.

I don’t have much choice thus my kid is still there.
