      Applemummy:

Hi there, how is your boy (sec 1) copying in hci?

      Thanks

He's definitely happy there but I think he is having a bit of difficulty with ELL and HCL. Seems to be managing ok with the other subjects.

Guess we will find out after this round of tests. I'm looking forward to the SLF heh. 😂

My boy is also enjoying school and the curriculum, he finds his classmates fun-loving. He is very busy and needs to stay back everyday except Thursday. There seems to be many projects work the past few weeks and he wasn't able to manage his time very well initially but gets better each day, I guess this is a great learning process.

Ds also finds English very challenging, rest of the subjects seem okay.

Applemummy, is your ds in Sec 1 too? How is he doing?

          Hi,

Any of your DS had gone for the Fan Si Pan trip @ Vietnam ?
Do you mind sharing more info about it?
          Thanks!

            Hi tsh0202

I’m a newbie here. My DS is in Yr 1, hasn’t been to Fan Si Pan in Vietnam.
So sorry, wish I could help.

No worries. Even though there was a parents' briefing, still think that it's best to get some advice/ sharings from parents whose DS had gone there before so as to better prepare my DS.
              Thanks!

DS brought back a letter regarding “Student-Led Forum” (SLF) on 27 May 2014 (Tue).

It mentions that if we can’t make it to this forum, there will be no more formal “Parent-Teacher” session.
Is this SLF considered as the Parent-Teacher Meeting?
In the Student Handbook Calendar for Sec-1, May 26 and 27 are scheduled for Parent-Teacher sessions where students are not supposed to be present.
                Confused

Yes, this is the PTM which is different from previous years whereby the parents have to book the sessions. My DS told me that he has to be around as he has to led the session ( sharing of his aspirations) in front of his 2 teachers and parents.

I don't think this \"Student-Led Forum\" will focus on students' strength & weakness on certain subjects and behaviour in school.

I heard from other IP school that those taking Higher Chinese Language (HCL) will have to take Standard Chinese “O” Level in Year 3 and HCL “O” Level in Year 4. Students with a good pass (C6 ?) in HCL “O” Level in Year 4 will be exempted to take Chinese Language in IP Year 5 and 6. Is this true for Hwa Chong?

Presently there are 6 subjects in Year 1. When students start taking more than 6 subjects in Year 2 or 3, is the MSG score based on 1R5, i.e. English Language (compulsory) plus best 5 subjects?

                    Thks 😄

in HCI, you need to get at least a B4 for HCL O level in year 4 to be exempted in IP Year 5/6.
