So far, I'm the only one who chose \"None of the above\". Why leh? Cos I'm sick of local TV. We used to have cable for a while but DD1 got addicted to the kiddy channels and we adults didn't even have time to watch the movie/documentary channels so we gave it up.

We also watch a lot of Japanese anime online so local TV has already lost right from the start.

For many years already, we'll just order online boxsets of English series from Amazon since:
      1. we can watch them anytime we want,
      2. we can pause when we need to (especially important when you have young kids),
      3. they are cheaper than buying locally,
      4. we can skip all the horrible, boring and repetitive commercials,
      5. we can view the yummy extras (one of the main reasons why we prefer DVDs), and
      6. we don't need to \"chase\" episodes.

We just need to wait for the boxsets to be issued but for us the wait is negligible since we're usually too busy to realise that the waiting time has passed.

This works very well for DD1 too since we \"control\" what she watches, when she watches and how much she watches. She accepts the rules more readily since she knows that with DVDs, she can always return exactly to where she stopped the next time and we don't become slaves to TV station schedules that disrupt our home schedule.

DD1 also learned through experience that certain DVDs (even Japanese anime) are not accessible to her until she is older. She insisted on watching Spirited Away when she wasn't ready to deal with the spirits yet and had a few nightmares. She also hates local TV due to the commercials disrupting her viewing as well as the content of the commercials; she'll mute the TV and run off to find me, asking me to inform her when the show comes back on while she occupies herself with something else.

Overall, we feel that this arrangement has worked well for us. I did think about DD1 missing out when her friends talk about local TV programmes but after so many years, she has never requested to watch local TV just because her friends do so I figure she has a good group of friends who spend time on other (more meaningful) activities like playing together. πŸ™‚

I only watch news on MediaCorp and ocassionally, some local stuffs eg. national day live, chingay or The Noose and Little Nonya. Watch more of Starhub channels instead. Love to watch HK drama but never like the Mandarin dubbed HK drama. Recently, have gone into alternative πŸ˜„ , hence only watch starhub channels for the educational, news and entertainment.

I think we watch less than 5 TV programs each week. -mainly okto and some kids programs on weekends.

I have cut down on viewing shows produced by mediacorp as the quality and content of shows have been reduced very drastically. Had tried to watch or support their new shows but could not bear any longer just watching since the first episode. What a shame! So now, practically my 9pm slot will turn of the TV and wait till 10pm to watch TVB drama or channel 5 shows like, ANTM, Project runway, CSI, Survivor, AI etc. shows of outsource.

The recent show "the pupil" actually not bad for the first two episodes , only can comment after watching the series.
Now, I have also watch 11pm show in channel 8 from Taiwan. I cannot believe myself !! :!:
In the past, I enjoyed local produced drama, but these recent years, I couldn’t take it anymore, the shows overall quality has dropped. My kids also couldn;t bear to watch but to watch other productions.
