Using Relative's Address & Statutory Declaration

jedamum:
kidzo galore:
so if I'm a parent volunteer & also registering for the grandprent thingy? will i be at an earlier phase for those within 1-2km?
parent volunteer is in Phase 2B. assuming that the grandparent's address is <2km, you will be under 1-2km category under Phase 2B.
No. if using grandparent's address, kidzo will be considered to be above 2km if kidzo's parents are within 1-2 km. -
RTmummy:
so, if i'm using grandparent address, it makes no sense for PV? My parent's address is <2km.
You are confused.
PV quallifies you to register in phase 2B. The distance comes into play in assigning places and balloting situation regardless of phases.
Meaning to say, regardless of phases, distance is not important if number of registrants is less than the number of places available. But if there are not enough places to go around, places will first be given to those within 1km, then to those between 1 and 2 km, finally to those beyond 2km. -
thanks! i was confused by so many rules. so meaning now i’ve to register for pv to get to phase2b then.

That's right. Register and perform your PV this year, then P1 registration for your 2005 child next year. :celebrate: -
Quoted from MOE's website:
If statutory declaration is used, children who are registered using either of the grandparent or parent’s sibling address and residing within 1 km or between 1 km and 2 km of the school of choice are balloted together with other children residing between 1 km and 2 km.
It seems to imply that, regardless whether the caregiver stays within 1 km or 1-2 km, if the child applies via caregiver route, he is under the 1-2 km category. -

hence, my above comment stand correct.parent volunteer is in Phase 2B. assuming that the grandparent's address is <2km, you will be under 1-2km category under Phase 2B.
'if grandparent's address <2km, it is consider under 1-2km category' is the same meaning as 'if grandparent's address less than 1km, it is consider under 1-2km and if grandparent's address is 1-2km, it is consider as 1-2km'.
tankee's intepretation of if grandparent's address is 1-2km, kid will be considered as more than 2km category is unsubstantiated and i believe is incorrect. -

strange .. where did I get the wrong understanding from? :?
My mistake. Jedamum is correct and I am wrong :celebrate: -
Hi all
Would like to know if there's any way MOE would allow statutory declaration if only one parent working. I know they state black and white both parents but what if the father is studying full time at a local uni taking his degree? I called MOE and the person kept quoting the same lines from the website.
:?
Thanks! -
hi kancheongmama
:welcome: to KSP
There are other conditions for statutory declaration beside both parents working. Are you able to meet the other conditions? -
kancheongmama:
...but what if the father is studying full time at a local uni taking his degree?
Actually, if you put yourself at MOE's shoes, they would think that since the father is taking full time study, and not working, he should be able to look after the child, right?
In the event that the father needs to go to campus for his lessons or research, etc. he can then get alternative help to care for the child.
Not trying to defend MOE but there are simply too many possibilities to consider if they relax the rules.
