Even when I am staying very near to the school ( Behind Raffles town club), my son had to wake up at 5-530am to prepare for school as the sch bus came to pick him up at 6am daily! Ridiculous.
5 something in morning. Think carefully, branded school is very good but the distance and travelling will tire your child. 6 years bus journey to and fro is no joke.jewel25:

Have to think carefully as waking up really early, means going to bed early too.

They usually have activities for the children : snow city, overnight camp, etc
But the school doesn't mind if you take your child out for overseas trip. Many have done it before.drickymummy:

Because P had seen them before, talked to them before, in school.
P Know them personally, even before P1 registration July exercise begin.

They are strangers to her.

Well then, isn't it a blessing that ny is not a full school.
For schools like MGs, scgs, Younger siblings of Secondary Students (who didn't attend the primary school) can apply for a place at the primary school and 100% guaranteed a place (phase 1).

School is the best person, to advise you.
If got vacancy -
school may ask your son to sit for P3 tests (Sg MOE standard), test his proficiency level, in all P3 subjects.
P3 (English, Maths, Science, Chinese) -
To ascertain if he can join at P3 or lower level.
As Nanyang primary is a SAP school, standard of Chinese is high.
Besides, the waitlist to enter Nanyang is very long.
Those kids who got balloted out during P1 registration, are on the waitlist.
Plus many more from other schools eyeing to seek transfer in, eagerly.
So are siblings of GEP pupils, who entered Nanyang at P4.
These siblings of GEP pupils, are also inside waitlist.
Perhaps what you can do at home, is to print out Latest past year P3 Test / exam questions, from Nanyang.
Download them, save into c drive hard disk, print out A4 size, let your son practise.
Start off with P3 Test papers first.
If he got difficulty with P3, then download P2 later, try again.
Ascertain at which level, his proficiency is, for all subjects.
Because if Nanyang were to assess your son -
the standard they test : will be somewhat similar to some of these past year P3 test papers.
At home, here is a website you can download from Internet, free of charge.
(no need to pay)
