How was their 'A' Level grades, any failures or any who does not make it to the U?

2009 GCE O Level ---- Top Scorers


17-year-old Anderson Secondary School student, Li Yannan, is one of the top scorers in last year's O-level exams. The China-born student's results are even more impressive, considering the fact that she set foot in Singapore two years ago and started learning English only then.
She told RazorTV in crisp and clearly-enunciated English: \"Initially, it was very hard for me...but thanks to the school, they offered me a lot of help, and I think practise makes perfect, so I did a lot of exercises to help me improve my English\".
Yannan added that she liked the \"all-rounded\" education system in Singapore, which included project work and \"CCAs, which there isn't in China\".
Her tips for students to overcome difficulties like she did? 1. Stay focused in class, 2. Take notes in class, 3. Practise, 4. Seek help when in doubt, and 5. Get enough rest.

I've always admired foreign students for their diligence and hard work. Overcoming their weakness in English and living away from their parents, many go on to achieve remarkable results.

Our kids have much to learn from them.

Without parents around yet can still perform. :? Sometimes I wonder are we value-adding or just let school to do the value-add?

Apart from having a guardian, do they have any tuition?

They perfom solely by hardwork or also attributed by the fact that they are good/top students from abroad?

Most of them on scholarship therefore the only way is to succeed. They stand to loose more if they cannot make it.

Will they stay on or just left for their own country just like last year's top O Level student from St. Nicholas.

My tots is that they it is difficult for them to be able to go overseas for studies hence they are more serious and they are focused. I also used to have Malaysian classmates during my poly days and they are always at the top.

yes, foreign students have different attitude - they leave their home country and their loved ones for one ultimate reason ie study, so they tend to strive for the best. Whereas majority of our home children are being led in the way to simply pursue studies, preferably to the uni.

I don’t hate all of them (some are even my friends).
But the attention is–so what? So what if they get really good results like 9A1s? Come on, for scholars, that is the norm.
They are older–o levels is chicken feet for them. All they are weak in is English and maybe Comb Humans?
When they ace all the HMT, chinese, sciences, maths… Lots of time to spend on 2 subjects only.
No big deal for people to study overseas what. My friend (rich one) also go Australia to study, somemore only 16, younger than the scholars leh. She also very independent can survive on her own what.

I started primary school at age of 8 and took PSLE last year, 268+3.
He started at age of 6, so he complained >.<
