I would rather be still working so that I dont get tooooooooooooo bored thinking bout him whole day and nite (kids gonna go to school anyways) šŸ˜›

This is my concern...will get bored soon.
I will. I feel that kids should have at least one parent around. Not working will also mean I have the flexibility to bring the kids to see DH whenever their school schedule permits. This is not quite possible if I'm FTWM.

In fact, I would prefer the whole family go overseas, if the kids are still in pre-school or younger.
This is what I feel too since one parent is not around that I shld spend more time at home and also have more time to go thru her school work. No, unlikely will travel together coz my gal juz start her primary school education and am not keen in International school leh. So headache. šŸ˜ž

If your spouse will be posted overseas, will you give up your job to stay home so that you can spend more time with your child since the other half is not around?

The spouse going oversea should to get a better deal like the company can send the child/children to the local international school and the other half can also follow. That way the couple don't have to be seperated and one of them can stay at home to look after the children.

I am just wondering what will happen if the kids come back to Singapore and no longer on expat package. It will be a heavy burden to continue to send the kids to Int'l schools. Also, in the event that the school continue to keep a place for the child, will the child be able to catch up for major exams???? It's not easy.

Sorry if your hubby is going to be posted to China. I think you should go too. It's too risky. Sorry not trying to scare you but sometimes when one gets bored given that they are all alone in a foreign land, things do happen in a moment of folly or when there are too many temptations around.

Yes, we can move there as a family but being a KS parent, I'm afraid my DD cannot catch up with Spore's education system if we decide to come back 2 years later coz many told me International school are usually quite relax 😐 .

Why not take up part-time job so do when kids in the school rest of the time can sit at home enjoying with them then can get extra cash for ur pocket money
Yes, this is most likely the option.....preferably 5 hours in the morning and can be home to receive my gal when she finishes school....Don't know what job can accomodate flexi working hours.....

This can happen anywhere not only China. If you ask me to weigh between family and child education. I will take family. The child can still try to catch up when we return or in the worst situation lose 1-2yrs. But once the family is broken, that's forever.

 agreed with you...i will never agree of his overseas posting if it is in China... :nunchuk: However on 2nd thought, anywhere can be possible. It's really a test for our marriage.

You can look for a school that follows Singapore Syllabus.

                        Yup, I agree.

Tri-mum, As far as it is possible, the whole family should go along, especially if your spouse will be going overseas for more than say half a year. Cos I've heard too many real life stories of bad things happening.
