Notice the big jump in the 2 Full schools -

Catholic High primary jumped from 32 % (Phase 1 sibling) to 68 %,
CHIJ St Nicholas primary jumped from 31 % to 72 %.

      - because Full schools allow ex / former Secondary school students, to join the primary schools.

        refer

        http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/event ... -phase-2a2

        based on above statistics :-
        If last year (2013) had implemented \"40 seats compulsory reservation\" for combined Phases (2B + 2C) -
then CHIJ St Nicholas primary would have gone into Phase 2A2 balloting, last year.
(because St Nick is a full school. Former ex Secondary students can come back, join primary school)

let's work out last year (2013) calculation, together.

        Total vacancies (2013, last year ) = 210
@ end of Phase 2A1 (alumni) : 72 % had been taken up.
        (72% was high)

        Thus, remaining places left for remaining Phases (2A2, 2B + 2C) =
        100 - 72 = 28 % vacancies left.
        28 % vacancies left means (0.28 x 210) => 59 seats left.

But If need to reserve 40 seats :
        means (59 - 40) = 19 seats left, only for Phase 2A2.
But how many eventually registered at 2A2, at St Nick ?
        It was 20 %.

        20 % means (0.2 x 210) => Phase 2A2 itself actually need 42 seats.

But after reserve \"40 compulsory seats\" set aside :
        only 19 seats were left.

        Mean 2A2 fall short of how many ? 42 - 19 = 23
Mean balloting would have occurred last year (2013), at Phase 2A2 greater than 2 km.
23 children would have been balloted out.

Which are the other Full schools ?
Catholic High, Maris Stella, MGS, SCGS
suggest parents enrolling kids in these Full schools this year, should also attempt to work out calculation too.
Have standby backup plan : if Phase 2A2 need to ballot, this year.

Besides Ai Tong, Henry Park -
Full schools may be the next category of schools, to feel the impact hit by reservation of \"40 compulsory seats\".
Because many ex Secondary school students flock back to their primary schools.

Whenever balloting occur in Phase 2A to 2C Supp :-
        Priority goes to SC first.
Any PR from Phase 2A staying less than 1 km from any school -
Will have to come out, give way to all SC, first.

some schools' sibling Phase 1 took up a lot of seats :

          more than 50 % gone is a lot !

Inside some schools : Phase 1 itself already have PR kids.
Parents whose kids are SC but failed to ballot under Phase 2C or Phase 2A, should find out the actual figures, on your own.

Wonder if there will be balloting for 2A1 for Ai Tong School..

Paiseh.. am super kiasu, my son will be eligible only 2021 intake.. staying in Punggol.
              :
Now is 2014 : still got 7 more years : before your son's turn to enrol.
              Anything can happen.
              Changes can make events happen.

Monitor figures from next year (2009 born kids) onwards -
you can tell whether Phase 2A1 need to ballot, for Ai Tong or not.

Just saw the link showing number vacancies for each school for 2015 P1 registration is out at moe website.

                http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/primary-one-registration/vacancies/

The new 40 reserved vacancies for P2B/C will definitely push forward the balloting to P2A1/2 for some popular schools. For really hot schools, the seats may even be snapped out all the during P1 and this will put parents alumni in no advantage at all for P2A1/2.

Parents will have to think of new strategies to counter this new policy.

I saw yesterday that the vacancies have been reduced for certain schools. Those like Cedar Pri, Canossa Convent etc. Is my observation correct?

they still offer the same total number of vacancies. This year they are having 120 total vacancies too.

the number you see on moe site is after 40 seats are being reserved before phase 1...

                        Advise please people?
OK, i've just checked the MOE website..

My DS qualifies for RV pri under phase 2A2.
I've completed PV for Fairfield pri under phase 2B.
                        Staying 1-2km from Fairfield.

Now that RV will be single session, I'm in a dilemma...(Cos i want only single session)
                        Help...
I'd prefer Fairfield cos of affiliation, distance and Christian environment..

My DS has a slight dislike for Chinese and am afraid of the Chinese environment in RV.
