      Hi all,

I wonder which move will you choose if you are in my position.
Staying in Punggol. Hub is former NYP...I am formerly from PCPS.

Frankly I find that if we registered DD in NYP, distance will be a nightmare. I understand that kids from Punggol need to wake up like 5am to get ready for the school bus!! Its a nightmare for straight 6 years.

I wonder how most parents will decide:
      - Distance?
PCPS as it is nearer in TPY?

      - Branded school?
As I guess NYP is the most sought after school?

      - Teachers?
I heard that the teachers in NYP seems to be better in TPY..

      - Totally relocate
Just to be near the school?

Haiz seems like most parents staying in Punggol/Sengkang has this woes of being far away from all the schools they want 😞
Wow so good .. Can choose btw 2 very good school .. Pei chun seems very possible without moving .

NYPS is a nightmare…and with the 40 places taken out for phase 2B/C, ‘hot’ schools may go into balloting for those in 2A…the distance will come into consideration. Moving nearer NYPS will be expensive.

Govt push young couples to stay outskirts…this is a headache with after school care when kids start attending school and grandparents stay far.

P1-2 is crucial to build foundation before P3, when science is introduced and math topics get tougher. Read widely to build vocabulary…make sure the kids read every word. Having a strong command of English will help in the understanding of math and science too.

If I were you, I will choose NYPS. No doubt the first few years your child has to wake up at 5am to prepare to board bus, take it as a form of time management. Your child will truly treasure the value of time and manage time better to spend time wisely on revision and doing homework. A child with too much time on hand will waste time watching cartoons.

As your child grows up, your child will learn how to take the mrt from Punggol to school. As your child progresses on to secondary, poly/JC or university, your child has to travel long distance too. It all boils down to how the parents help the child to manage the time.

All schools are good schools but some schools are better schools and NYPS is certainly one school that parents will fight tooth and nail for their children to get into the school. If you think your child truly deserves to study in a stimulating environment like NYPS and your child has that academic capability to handle challenges in the studies, go ahead with NYPS.

            Good luck 😄

Agree many parents are doing everything to put their kids in NYPS…but punggol is very far. Unless you eventually plan to move nearer to the school, the young child would has to spend a lot of time traveling on the road everyday 2x a day.

                Hi KSParents and all,

I'm currently evaluating and reviewing the different pri schs which is within 1-2km from my house at Punggol Place. It should be either Punggol Green (within 1km), Punggol View(within 1km) and Edgefield Pri (within 1km) and Springdale Pri (1.6km). Was wondering how to know if a sch suits my girl. Currently caretaker is in Sengkang but I'm staying in Punggol. Any comments or experience to share with me? I prefer Punggol Green (Punggol) as it's closest to where I'm staying or Springdale (Sengkang) as it's closest to the caretaker. Was thinking how well Punggol Green is as I can't seem to find 2013 PSLE results. Please advise. Thank you.
Personally I prefer Punggol Green. I feel it could be the next upcoming \"popular\" school in Punggol in a few years to come.

It will be a shock if you can find it.
The school only started in 2013.

Endure for minimum 2 years first, at Nanyang.
                    later, then seek Transfer.

                    from Nanyang -
easier to seek Transfer, into other Primary school.

Phtthp, are you suggesting to endure 2 years in nyps then transfer to a nearby school ?

No, ask her to shift closer to Nanyang.

not necessarily < 1 km from Nanyang

because jewel in dilemma now, going to enrol soon.
since her husband 2A alumni : if she shift halfway between Punggol and King’s road, distance reduced by half.
can have next 2 years time or more, to tide over
