Hi, qms if u refer to the vacancy by planning place. 40 seats are taken away right at the start of the P1 registration. It will only add back after phase 2a2. From phase 2a1 to 2a2, if nt enough vacancy, will need to ballot.

I was just replying to your point that your chances would be higher with the 40 places reserved for P2B and P2C and my reply was that no, it wouldn't increase your chances as far as RMPS is concerned. All it does is to reduce your chance and reinstate it, if you are in P2B or P2C.

That's right! So, for a super-hot school that runs the risk of having less than 20 places each for P2B and P2C, this new policy helps.

But for schools like RMPS which traditionally had more than 20 places left in each of the two phases in concern, this policy doesn't help because there are surpluses after P2A2.

not add back : because Total number of vacancies in each school, are fixed.

Right at the onset :
40 seats had been reserved, for combined two Phases (2B + 2C), before even starting Phase 1.

This means that 2B will get 20 seats (minimum), and 2C get another 20 seats (minimum).
20 seats each are untouchable : by Phase 2A.

This new rule kicks in -
only if After 2A2, Balance for remaining Phases = 0
Then, this \"40 seats\" safety net kicks in, to ensure that a fair number of 20 seats each, are allocated to 2B and 2C.

but if After 2A2 : there is a lot of leftover balance, then you won't see the impact of this new rule.

So how does the balloting process goes? Results of Phase 2C will be out on 6 Aug so does it means we will need to report to school on that day for the ballot? My hubby travels a lot thus would be good to know how the process goes to plan ahead.

I was expecting balloting but not to this extend where more than half places are already taken in the first phase!!! :yikes: :yikes:

RMPS had balloting for P2B two years ago. As for P2C, it has been balloting for those staying less than 1 km from the school since the time you registered for your son.
