        Hi,

Just realised that the vice principal is no longer with WSPS? Gotten feedback from parent that she is kinda of worry on the turnover rate as the sch had just started n VP has changed.
For us parents, we too, are also wondering will this also affect other teachers?

          Dear Okea,

We understand that parents may be concerned when they hear of changes in the school leadership. Rest assured that the new VP, Ms Sabariah, had been posted to West Spring Primary as she has a wealth of experience gained in curriculum matters whilst working at MOE HQ. This augurs well for our school as her experience will help bring our PLAY curriculum to an even higher level of excellence. In fact, since joining the school last month, Ms Sabariah had already been working on our PLAY curriculum, together with our team of teachers.

Our teachers have also been attending regular workshops as well on PLAY. Just yesterday, we introduced Story-Telling by our Parent Volunteers during  morning pre-assembly. Our West Springers were enthralled and captivated during the session.

We’ll continue to strive to provide the best holistic education possible for your children and look forward to working in partnership with our parents on this matter. 😄

Are there new teachers on board? Instead, I heard there is teacher leaving WSPS.

Hopefully a better solution can be sought to affected students. Having a relief teacher or joining other class due to lack of teacher may not be a long term solution.

              Dear Starkids,

Schools regularly receive new education officers joining the school in the middle and at the end-of-the year upon graduation from the Nanyang Technological University / National Institute of Education, or education officers returning from overseas study leave. At the same time, once in a while, an education officer may also need to take some time off to attend to unforeseen / urgent personal matters, or to further his / her studies as part of his / her professional development. Hence, the staff movement, if any, in any school in Singapore.

As an example, we recruited our Allied Educator (Learning & Behavioural Support) last year, but it’s only now that she has been able to join us as she’d commitments in her previous school to fulfil. We’re also on the constant lookout for good experienced teachers and have just welcomed another 2 highly experienced Flexi-Adjunct Teachers to support our school’s learning programmes. When new staff join the school, it’s normal for us to then deploy these new officers in the best way possible to better engage our West Springers in their learning. So there may be some deployment adjustments made in the process. 😄

                Hi,

The school website only shows the form and co-form teachers, does it mean the rest of the teachers are adjunct/flexi-adjunct teachers? Heard from my child, this term the maths teacher is different from last term. Will this be a long term practice? The student will always have to adjust to the new teacher every term? Hopefully not…

                Thank you.

                    Dear MRZ18,

The full list of teachers will be updated on our revamped school website shortly. We're now still in the midst of migrating from our former school website.

We've been very blessed to have been able to identify 10 additional experienced teachers who take on the role of Flexi Adjunct Teachers. These teachers have worked alongside our permanent teachers in teaching & learning, helping to prepare teaching & learning resources. So, in effect, we've been fully staffed since the school started in Jan 2014.

As we do regular progress reviews of our programmes and after the conduct of bite-sized assessments, we may also in the process adjust our deployment accordingly to better cater to the students' learning needs at that point in time.

As such, there may be situations when students are moved from one group to another to better cater to his / her learning pace / learning needs at that point in time.

It's important for parents to understand that a primary school functions very differently from a kindergarten. We hence seek parents' understanding as we work in partnership along this new journey which your child has just embarked on. 😄

                      Dear Free2pop,

The school plans to update parents at the next scheduled letter to parents issue on 15 July 2014.

In every school, there'll be some movement of students. This happens when students change residence, or when parents are posted out of the country for work assignments overseas.

As of now, we are running into full enrolment as the few arising vacancies had been quickly filled up by students who'd been placed on our waitlist since last year. There's no cause for concern as such and the school is making good progress. In fact, the number of P1 classes for 2015 has been increased from 7 in 2014, to 8 classes in 2015.

Hence, we're glad that you sought clarification and provided us an opportunity to clarify matters.
                      😄

Do drop by the up-coming Mother Tongue Symposium on Saturday, 23 Aug 2014 at Suntec City. West Spring Primary is honoured to have been identified by MOE to share its PLAY Curriculum with educators and the public on that day! :grphug:
