St nik left 14 for 2A2, cathigh left 27 for 2A2

Both definitely ballot

Wow if based on last yr p2a2 numbers .. St nic confirm ballot and CHS just made it with 1 spare ..

just a quick headsup - chs got >100 alumni vying for 2A1. for some strange reasons (maybe overseas/change minds/forgot date?!), they didn't show up. Not sure over this weekend, they change minds and pop up suddenly for 2A2.
All the best!

I’m wondering how many parents registered as parent volunteer for kids born in 2008 at Yangzheng primary school. From the past record feel that this year also no need go for balloting, but worry that since government reserved 40 seat for phase 2B & 2C and it will affected phase 2A2 also increase of no. of registration… anyone can clear my doubt ? many thanks.

any chance for RGPS outside 2km for phase 2C? actually I am just slightly outside 2km :(...

Likely no chance ... balloting happens for 1-2km for the last 2 years under Phase 2C.

Any idea how many parents are registered as PV for Roysth School. Pretty worried that Phase 2A may take up a fair bit of the remaining 77 places.

Pasir Ris and Cedar unusual phenomenon this year.

Not many seats left
http://www.channelnewsasia.com/mobile/s ... 49434.html

Cedar has only 120 places and with 40 places reserved for 2B & 2C, there is only 44 places left for 2A2 after deducting 36 places taken up to 2A1. Assuming 20 places are taken up for 2A2, it means that there will be 64 places left for 2C. Expect balloting for 2C to take place.
Hi there,

I'll be registering my son for either ACSP or ACSJ in phase 2B. I live within 1 KM what are the odds for balloting you think this year?

In phase 2C, if my son don't get in at phase 2B i will try for ACSP or ACSJ or SJIJ 1 km - what do you think? Any advice is much appreciated.

If i don't get in any my back up plan is bendemeer primary or farrer park primary - which one do you think is better - thank you in advance.

need some advise thanks.

With the change in the numbers being allocated i think balloting will take place as more ppl might want to take the chance (20 more slots).

You can continue to check the numbers and take the chance for both 2B and 2C as historically there will be vacancies left for phase 3 for both Bendemeer and Farrer Park if you are able to take the stress

I previously enrolled my son to Farrer Park as i was not successful in the Phase 2C balloting exercise, instead of Bendemeer mainly because of the location and also the low number of student intake. As the class size is small the teachers do have more time to pay attention to each of the students (class size was about 21 for my son's class). The communication with the teachers were very pleasant and there was constant follow up. There was no need to wait for PTC to feedback. Other than this i dont really have any experience of Bendemeer hence not in a position to comment.

Thanks QWERTYUI. Your son is enjoying his time at Farrer Park? BTW hope you don't mind me asking which school did you ballot for and were you within 1 KM?
I balloted for HWS during Phase 2C and was within 1 km

...

Next year, perhaps see St Nicholas ballot at 2A1, bypass 2A2
If happen : St Nicholas will create history -
First school to ballot at 2A1, from the CHIJ family.
...
Been following registration yearly since 2004 (yes, 11 solid years). There is a number many fail to keep watch on.

Very popular schools like NYPS, Henry Park, Rosyth, etc take in 300 students and very very popular school like Ai Tong takes in 330 students yearly.

So Cath High and ST Nics in fact are not as popular as one thinks. Cath High in the earlier years (when DS registers), like ST Nics, they both take in total 210 students per year or 7 classes and not until 1 fine year, the P2B left 9 seats and the following year it becomes 8 classes with total intake of 240 students, so theoretically, if Cath High remains 210 students till today, this year already ballot in P2A1.

Chances are next year, ST Nics may add 30 more seats to increase from 210 to 240 like what Cath High did many years back. Both balloting at P2A1 or removing Alumni who did not study in the Primary School of the full school are unlikely to happen as P2A1 also includes child of staff of that school and Alumni is Alumni (Citizen or PR) and their Primary School may not exists after all these year.

By the way, from the post you wrote, you seems to dislike the Alumni in P2A2 by branding them many times in your post that they are non contributing Alumni. Just remember, when they study in that school and they study well to contribute to the school's overall good results and when they did well in life, they bring up the reputation of the school as well. You cannot just gun down the P2A2 group as a whole just by a simple statement.

hi all,

Would like to solicit opnions from all:

In view of the tight vacancies situation at MGS, will it be wise to move our focus to Geylang Methodist for P2B? The problem is it's a good 10-12km away from where we live, I wonder if it's a pragmatic choice, considering it would be a day-to-day travel for the kid?

I would like to hear from those experienced parents staying relatively far from the school and their experiences. Thank you.

ST
It really depends.

We stay in Sembawang, DS studies in Bishan (shortest route 13km usually jam, alternate route can be up to 19km), DS took school bus (just before 6am) when he is in primary school, secondary (same school) go by himself. Now when I asked him if he will send his child to the same school, he says, \"YES\".

So check with the school if there is a school bus from your place to the school, if yes, good, if no, well you have to ask yourself if you are willing to send your child to school for 6 solid years, children no effect on them, get onto the car and the child \"zZzZz...\" till he/she reaches school. Alternately, move near to school.

10 km away is no joke, especially when the child needs to go for CCA from pri 3 onwards.
If got school bus, always can catch CCA school bus...
